#1 top rated interpretation:it's about following you heart and not doing what everybody else does
the person isn't sure the road taken is the right one, but he calls it home and hopes it leads him somewhere. The person wants to branch off from other traveled paths to find his own and find out what the true meaning of life is.
even though, he can't see where the road leads, he wants to follow his feelings
The person also says that people shouldn't let others control their lives and that if people tell him/her that she/he is wrong, he/her won't deny their opinion.
The person is telling those who are different and seeking a different path in life that they are not alone and to fight for what they believe in. The person tells him/her that they shouldn't let them compare or act good enough for someone else, to be there own person. -

#2 top rated interpretation:Picking yourself up, being who you are, believing in your destiny, that’s something everyone tries to do. That’s what the song “Am I Wrong” by Nico & Vinz is about. Sometimes things just don’t go my way. That is life. Nico & Vinz have made a song that helps the listener to get through their own personal hardship. The song makes people feel capable of following their feeling. When they’re giving up, this song gives them the determination to keep on going. “Am I Wrong” makes me feel “right”.
In the song, the singer states “I’m walking down this road of mine, this road that I call home.”He also says “Now am I wrong for trying to reach the things that I can’t see.” Using these two lines I can infer that the singer has gone through some paths but he wants to find the path that is his own, the one he can call home. He wants to follow his feelings, even though he doesn’t know what the end of the road will be like. He wants to know the true meaning of life.
When listening to this song, I envisioned the life of a slave. The difficulties and sufferings felt by a slave. Every day a slave will wake up to be abused by a master who they must be loyal to. A Jew listening to this song will make him feel like everything is going to be okay. As if the Nazi won’t end up taking his/her life, or to a black man living during the 1800’s this song will hope that one day he’ll be travelling the underground railroad. This song is for these people, people with problems. -

#3 top rated interpretation:Just being you and choosing to walk the road less trodden by others. Adventurous.

Its about believing in poly-amour relationships. With real love, real honesty and really not knowing how things will go. But we will all go together as a family.

This song is all about choosing a path that not many people do (being different) and it's not many people that do that. It's very inspirational how they started off and where they're at now

This song was Nico & Vinz's international breakthrough. It peaked at #2 in their home country where it has been certified three times platinum. The single also hit the Top 10 in many other European countries as well as the US. "We always knew it was possible to reach outside of Norway with our music," Sereba told Billboard magazine. "With this song, we wanted to say, 'Are we wrong for thinking that we can actually do this?' That's how that message came about - trusting your gut feeling, going for it and searching for your own happiness."
From Songfacts -
It's about someone with a desire to be unique and different and not just be another person among millions of people who are exactly the same. It's also about following your dreams.
-
I think this song is about making a decision for the reason of personal happiness. He is asking if it is wrong to want to be happy.
-
I think this song is about self confidence, knowing that it's ok to be different and that you have to carve out your own future meaning you choose how you want your life to be. Don't let people rule your life and ruin it for you. Also don't go running after people taking their lives, be your own person and stand up for yourself.

I think it's about how he's gay but proud of it.
"So am I wrong
For thinking that we could be something for real?"
Maybe you could be with me though I think you're straight.
"Now am I wrong
For trying to reach the things that I can't see?"
Maybe we can be together without getting crap from homophobes.
And how he can't help who he is.
"But that's just how I feel,
That's just how I feel
That's just how I feel"
And he doesn't want to be straight.
"If you tell me I'm wrong, wrong
I don't wanna be right, right" -
Try to improve ourself.
-
i think this song about standing out and being a unique individual grabbing all opportunities as they come and don't let your dream slip through your fingers and also breaking out of the stereotype and ignoring all the obstacles that are blocking your way such as racists and homophobic people and sexists reaching out and following your dreams no matter what you can reach it.
-
Breaking out of the friend zone.
-
Am I wrong for trying to do something ambitious when others feel threatened? Others may want to dismiss you but you need to be yourself and let your skills and abilities take you to that place outside the box you may feel penned in.

I believe the song was divinely inspired despite its ambiguity. Nico and Vinz may have meant any number of things through the video and lyrics. Even if they later explained the meaning, would it change your life. From a Christian standpoint I tend to think powerful songs like this indicate God speaking through people, no matter how unclear the message; and because of divine and natural free will, we are able to choose whatever meaning suits us best. That is God's true intention is for us to choose. I should add that God is usually overlooked due to what we cherish in our hearts. Did Nico and Vinz make clear their meaning? Maybe. But more times than not it is up to us to read in between the lines from a moral standpoint, with any song or expression, to determine
if it has any valuable meaning. This type of thinking is commonly accepted as religiously motivated ignorance, but in the right moment one cannot mistake the very real and personal fealing of faith; but our hearts/egos have to be broken before we can experience it.
