I always thought I heard somewhere that the demon was her husband and he died and she mourned but eventually took another lover and the ghost of her dead husband lurked and watched and it drove him crazy with hate until he became a demon and then he went mental on her and she was scared and had a knife and then realized it was him and I think he might have realized that he was dead and what he became so he told her to run away because he wasn't him anymore and was going to kill her. But I think he came to terms and moved on . This song always makes me sad
