Pink Floyd: Poles Apart Meaning
Poles Apart Lyrics
And did you see it was all going to be so right for me
Why did we tell you then
You were always the golden boy then
And that you'd never lose that light in your eyes
Hey you...did you ever...

Poles Apart'' song for me is a hidden reminder ever since hearing the Cain and Abel Bible story. That came down to us religiously, philosophically and politically throughout time. Where this song could be about any two Poles Apart[Polish Brothers] that sadly went their separate ways towards their death after the beginning of the end of the Golden Age of Poland's Empire that was totally shattered with the end of ww2. That drove the ''poles apart'' even further with democracy that came with the solidarity movement there. Poles Apart song could also be about the north and south poles that shifted on the planet and broke apart the all once united Yugoslavian blood brothers into killing themselves for one's democracy. On a more personal level of Pink Floyd it's obvious that the spirit of Syd Barrett the founder of Pink Floyd never really died and never lost it's inner shineness of His soul, but had an outward affect on David Gilmore's inner thoughts on ''poles apart'' that's also about Roger Waters and Syd Barrett's relationship about their polarized influence on Gilmore by with the outward drive of Syd Barrett who did lose His outward shine in his eyes as He faded away from them for not wanting to see the evil of this world anymore looking through somebody elses eyes that He had empathy and sorrow for.

It's about Syd Barrett.

I kind of think the song af a harsh comment directed toward the bad relationship between David Gilmoure and Roger Waters.
