PJ Harvey: Hardly Wait Meaning
Hardly Wait Lyrics
I can hardly wait
I can hardly wait
I can hardly wait
I can hardly wait
It's been so long
I've lost my taste
Say angel come
Say lick my face
Let fall your dress
I'll play the part
I'll open this mouth wide
Eat your heart
I can...
-
I don't believe the above lyrics to be totally correct, like "make my water break", It's always sounded like "make my world as great".
Anyways, let me start off by saying I may be wrong, but then again I may be right. I am not trying to make any allegation/accusation of PJ's personal life either. But I'll tell you, from my experience, the song definitely fits in perfectly with the effects of cocaine. The words used in this song, just think about them. I can hardly wait... That's the only thing I can think that this song may be about. And maybe Romeo is the "john" because the one who can 'hardly wait' is prostituting. Or maybe Romeo is cocaine or some other drug, who knows, only PJ. Lips crack dry, tongue blue bursts, well, angel come (angel dust?) lick my face (Licking the mirror) It's been so long, I've lost my taste (yeah, cocaine has a taste you'll never forget).
