Poets of the Fall: Roses Meaning
Roses Lyrics
No appeal
I've been to places, I've seen the tidings,
I bought a book of rules for every coin that I could steal
And so I came to gaze...

I think the song is about "CRY for Help". The part where "so when i am crying alone and when i'm cold as a dying stone grow me a garden of roses" so he is asking for some motivation, some guidance, boost of encouragement.
The first stanza explains how he tried hard but could not succeed still doesnt hold grudges, he has been to places and followed but still no success. Finally, he looked at people who succeeded for inspiration (gazed upon the stars) but no luck there too.
Now he is full of scorn and trauma where he found a medicine man, who said to let go and forgive.
now he is asking either god, lover or teacher to help him guide the way.

The song in general is about a Man and his journey to success and encounter with failure.
The man had a dream and he "walked the distance, paid all dues and tried to have a go at what he thought was real".
He starts travelling and tried all tactics for every coin /riches he could get.
But his dreams were wishful. "Gazed upon the stars when they were yet unborn"-He started counting and estimating his success even before he knew the consequences ..which weren't very good as it gave him "tear and scars . " It made Him live in disguise of which he eventually got fed up of .
He cries at his failure and is too cold to continue.
He wants to start everything from the beginning and wants the ROSES to be his parting gift as well as a welcome present ~
