Puddle of Mudd: Blurry Meaning
Song Released: 2001
Blurry Lyrics
and everyone's so fake
and everybody's empty
and everything is so messed up
pre-occupied without you
I cannot live at all
My whole world surrounds you
I stumble then I crawl
You could be my someone
you could be...

#1 top rated interpretation:I this song is about the singer's son, and how his ex got custody of him. (thus "can you take it all away"). They used to be happy, but her leaving makes her seem fake, in his eyes. Its been taken all away from him, and he sees she shoved it in his face. All the meanwhile, he still misses his son. All this makes everything blurry.
Thats what I got outta this song. Hope it gave you some insight.

#2 top rated interpretation:Ok, this song is about a guy and his son (u guys were right). but him and his wife get a divorce, leaving the kid in the mother's custody. "My whole world surrounds you stumble then I crawl" meaning his kid was his whole life and now he feels empty without him.
"The ocean's inbetween us, but that's not very far" is about how his son is far away, but he will always love him, no matter where he is. -
3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:It seems to me that the song is about a girl who left him, but he still loves her. He wishes all the pain of the betrayal would be undone and they could be together again. He's also placing the blame on other people for influencing her to "run away."
The video with the kid always felt like an afterthought. Maybe they thought it conveyed a better image.
For some insight into why it has nothing to do with the kid being far away, look at this section:
Everyone is changing
there's noone left that's real
to make up your own ending
and let me know just how you feel
cause I am lost without you
I cannot live at all
my whole world surrounds you
I stumble then I crawl
He's always referring to being lost without this person and the line that tells you it's about the girl is "let me know just how you feel." That's not question for your kid who's living with their mom in another city. -
My thoughts on this song is they were together once and he screwed up some how .they has a son they split up and she got the boy. She kept shoving the past in his face a she is with some new ass who could care about the boy and just is a ass hole. so the boys father has visitation and hates to give him back as she wants looking at her watch

Not an interpretation, I had read it was about his son. His ex wife took the, child and left the country. To England, if I remember correctly (there's oceans in between us, but that's not very far) meaning he can still get there to see him. She was telling people stories about him and the way they acted around him: "everyone's so fake" (turned out true with the drug abuse).

I always thought it was about him being a total mess after his girl leaving him and being hooked on heroin..
I haven't seen the video.. I never thought it was about his son like everyone is saying here.. -
It's about both longing to be with ur ex and child but for whatever reason u can't and it's destroying them all inside mother father and child
-
I'm going thru something similar there is a pfa I love my ex very much and it hurts because we were friends since highschool and everyone else decided we shouldn't be together not us and it's killing me inside I would love to be family again buti realize it could never be and kind of went to another child hood ex I was with since teens but the void is not filled I have no children with him and the loves not like it once was so yes this song nine out of ten is missing and longing to have ur family back
-
blurry is when your tears start in your eyes of the thought of the child being kept away from the father.
the mother was told by others rather than making up her own mind and whats best for the child.
in the end, the pain he feels is untilmately from her.
he wants his child back so the pain can go away...
i can relate.
sad situation. -
no no no. i feel like everyone is looking too deep into the video. yes part of it is his son. but the other part is the girl. he screwed up with this girl and she left him. you know the phrase you never know what you have till its gone. thats how he feels now. he just wants to be a family again. and yes in the video she is with some asshole. but how do the lines nobody told you where to hide. nobody told you what to say. showed you where to run away.how do they relate to his son. they dont. the girl just up and left. didnt try to make the relationship better. just ran. and now she is with some other dude.

well, my interpretation of this song didn't come about till my ex stole my daughter from me after a "court mediator" bullied me into allowing her to visit him (neither of us had custody at the time and he took advantage of that). i liked the song before that, but it was a song on the radio, you know how some are. after that incident, the first time i heard this with new ears (so to speak) i knew exactly what the song was about. the title, blurry, for me anyway, is what i see whenever i think about the child that's currently lost to me. it's been over 2 years, and the song still makes my eyes blurry when it comes on. no one should have to feel that, but people are what they are, jerks. they use any weapon they can.

While The singer wrote this song about the situation with his son, the awesome thing about it is that different people take different stuff from it. For the singer it's about his son, but when you hear it you can relate it to other things in your life. Just saying. :)

It is about heroin addiction

i listened to this song out of random, ive known this song a very long time, always enjoyed it, but my interpretation is about a guy having problems with his gf or girl that he is in love with, because she doesnt understand him as he understands her. thus being blurry, but he feels as if she is all thats left, like everyone else and everything isnt real she is the only real thing left in his eyes.
