The Zephyr Song Lyrics

Can I get your hand to write on
Just a piece of leg to bite on
What a night to fly my kite on
Do you want to flash your light on
Take a look its on display - for you
Coming down no not today

Did you meet your fortune teller
Get it off...

"Take a piece and pass it on"
    "Coming down no not today"
"I feel it more than ever"

This song is obviously about doing some kind of drug.

i think it is about drugs, weed maybe, 'take a piece and pass it on' this might be refering to toking on a joint and passing it.

Initially I read it as a relationship song. A zephyr to me was a metaphor for love. After seeing the readings of each of you I read it again and unfortunately for all the kiddies I think you're right it's another drug song. I think the zephyr reference is to do with breathing something in that takes you to a high. The skating references and the water where he is centered are metaphors for the high. I still think it's a song of love and infatuation but with a feeling or state of mind, not a person or object.

Whatshouldiput ARE YOU SERIOUS???? THAT IS SOOOO SAD. 9/11 happened on september 11 2001 and you just completely disrepected the thousands of people that died by terrorist attacks that day. :/

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Jukeday, 9/11 didn't happen september first. It happened november ninth. That's why it's called 9/11.....nov.9th

I think by skater it means skating between states of mind. The song, quite frankly, in my eyes, is about tripping balls with the people you love. Though, the other interpretations are great. I love the "thinking outside of the box" thing.

This song along with many other RHCP songs DOES have drug references and that's all there is to it. "Coming down no not today",
"Pick it up its not to strong - for you
Take a piece and pass it on",
"In the water where the scent of my emotion All the world will pass me by". That last one is debatable but I'd say he's referring to the sense of detachment to the rest of the world when on heroin (or many other drugs for that matter).

Is it possible that this song is about a girl?

I agree with the guy who says it's about the Zephyr team and the revolution of skateboarding.

Zephyr is a wind and a code name in medical industry for lung cancer :( I doubt that RHCP have had that in mind, so I'm to believe that they sing about the wind and freedom that winds bring with itself... One of my fav RHCP songs. Best album; that is sure...

Well I love this song....and the first guy is an idiot! LOLOLOLOLOL no offense but I don't agree with you....but I do agree with myself wen I say! Red Hot Chili Peppers ARE AN EPIC BAND! and don't get any recognition for their recent songs! and also...i believe it's about skating like that other guy said...cause if you guys read Scar Tissue you would know that Anthony and Flea made a skating video!! Which is Awesome!!

I think this song is about all his past time skateboarding around wherever he went high on dope, H, or the white lady.. whatever drug he chose for the day and just being free in his own state of mind..!

Okay, this first part is meant for the guy who wanted people to put a one if they agreed with him. It's not right calling anyone stupid...This is an interpretation forum, anyone can say whatever. I can say right now that I think this song is about a chocolate bar and I have the right to do that. I don't think that this song is about a chocolate bar, though, or 9/11, but it's a good interpretation. That first guy obviously put a lot of thought into that. Oh, and also, did you even stop to think that maybe the other guy you called stupid hadn't heard the Stadium Arcadium album yet? Interesting...

I personally think that this song is about Anthony's struggle with drugs and also about how some people allow themselves to get rooted down to a specific ideal, so they should let themselves be blown in another direction, hence the zephyr reference, because a zephyr is a west wind. It's a beautiful song.

Hmm..well everyone is fighting about it...maybe it is like great art, you interpret however you want, whether it be patriotism, drugs, peace, surfing, etc., its whatever you feel. They all are great guesses though. Great song!
