Rise Against: Injection Meaning
Injection Lyrics
And when night covers the sky you find yourself doing the same
There's a burden you've been bearing in spite of all your prayers
There's a light turned off inside your heart
Can you...

#1 top rated interpretation:I believe that this song is a collection of the multiple interpretations of one who is in a deep coma being kept alive synthetically via life support. The chorus is two opposing perspectives battling one another. "
Give me the drug, keep me alive
Give me what's left of my life
Don't let me go" I believe this represents the person wanting to live out there life and enjoy there memories. The "DONT LET ME GO" piece is rather self explanatory. The opposing argument in the lyrics.
On the other hand the chorus also includes "Pull this plug, let me breathe
On my own, I'm finally free" I believe this reinstates the point written in the first verse, of the person feeling helpless empty and painfully bored, just wanting to pass on. I'm not sure of the bands personally position on this issue, I just really liked the song and wanted to try and figure out what it ment. -

#2 top rated interpretation:this song could easily be about relationships like "do you spend you days counting the hours your awake?" could be about the after break up where your just lost "if you never Ment to leave you only had to stay" and he turns to drugs to ease the pain, he alternates saying let me go and don't let me go almost as if he's not sure with he wants, its also possible that the girl he's in love with is his drug and he's not sure whether he wants it "pull this plug let me breath on my own im finally free" having been in love before I know how after a long time it can seem like you need a breath of fresh air but at the same time you don't want to lose what you have.

This song is about empathy and prespective . It's about being stuck on feeling so much of the world that it's become a total burden; and searching out for moments of personal bliss. "Drug" in this reference is to "happiness", and how it can become the crutch that so many live for.

I agree with the suicide interpretation. He wants you to "pull the plug" so he is "on my own im finally free" saying that he doesn't have life dragging him down anymore. But everybody has something to live for, so he goes through changing his mind throughout the chorus. It could be about how the love of his life left him and now he wants to suicide bur he still wants her to come back. Thats my opinion

I think this song is about suicide. When you have depression and you go to the psychologist, they usually give you drugs/medicine which keeps you away from suicide thoughts. The drugs/medicine keeps him alive and if you leave him without this "help" (drugs/medicine), he'll suicide ("On my own I'm finally free").
I think this song means that because I'm getting through this experience and I identify with this song.
*I'm not native, so sorry if I didn't made this interpretation nicer. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I think this song could be about a drug addict seeking help and fighting to not relapse
