Personally i believe this song to be about lost people who are"forgotten about" sort of like the homeless in our country they are all forgotten about and all they are asking for is help. They feel that they are "alone under this sun" and they are constantly trying to fix the problems in the country. Their cries are also forgotten and they are abandoned by some who say they will help but never show up to help them.
