   For a long time I didn't know this song was about the war in Iraq. I honestly thought it was about the lack of intervention during the genocide in Rwanda and Sudan.

   Eugh if there's one thing I hate, it's bands who make pointed attacks at our nation's leaders. He's right, our country is very aggressive, but it's not George Bush's fault. Seriously, Tim, what the hell would you do if someone blew up your cities and killed hundreds of your citizens? If I were Bush, I would blow the fuckers up. I don't blame him; we were provoked. I think this song is true but they lay the blame on the wrong person.

   If you youtube the video you'll find a live version and before the song starts he goes "This next song, is dedicated to someone we all know.. This song goes out to George fucking Bush, and his fucking war! It's called state of the union" so obviously it's about his hatred for the war and his hatred for our countries poor leadership.
