I read in a kerrang interview with Rise Agaisnt that this is meant to be from the perspective of a ghost, the ghost of a man who was killed in the twin Iraq wars, or Afghani war, hence the lyrics, "fought your fight, bought your lie
and in return I lost my life?" and the intro is quoted from catch 22. -
This song is the spiritual successor to Hero of War. It is clearly an anti-war song that is trying to emphasize the pointlessness and waste of lives that wars really are.
