Seal: Prayer for the Dying Meaning
Song Released: 1994
Prayer for the Dying Lyrics
Harsh words spoken and lives are broken
Forceful ageing, help me I'm fading
Heaven's waiting, it's time to move on
Crossing that bridge with lessons I've learned
Playing with fire and not getting burned
I...

this is a good song for people who have lost someone, it gives somehow a impression that there is a new life on the other side of that bridge, and that the survivor, should pick themselves up, and live their life.

I read somewhere that Seal wrote this song for a friend of his who was dying from AIDS, and I've listened to it as well. It's such a beautiful song, too.
Fearless people,
Careless needle.
Harsh words spoken,
And lives are broken.
Forceful aging,
Help me I'm fading.
Heaven's waiting,
It's time to move on.
Crossing that bridge
with lessons I've learned
Playing with fire
and not getting burned
Those are such great rhymes, in the poetic sense of the word. I like how the words at the end of the second and fourth sentences rhyme like that. It's very intriguing, too.
I may not know what you're going through.
But time is the space,
Between me and you.
Life carries on... It goes on.
Just say die,
And that would be pessimistic.
In your mind,
We can walk across water.
Please don't cry,
It's just a prayer for the dying.
I just don't know what's got into me.
This is such a great song, and I will always remember it for the poetic beauty it inspires and the images it invokes, too. Kudos to Seal for writing such a great song, too. :)
