Senses Fail: Buried A Lie Meaning
Buried A Lie Lyrics
The paper said a bullet got in your way
But I smell foul play, possible poisoning
I had to bring you in for questioning
I went to your grave, dug up your body
Brought it to my house, where you...

Ok I think I've cracked it
its about the fathers relationship with her daughter and it was obviously bad, then he's talking about the dad trying to rebuild the relationship. and probly someone got in the way of their good relationship. but that's what the dad is doing. -
It could be about abortion. Sometimes they use a special type of poison to get rid of the baby, and that could be the reason why the line -'time of death, poisons in stomach' could mean and also other lines could be associated to abortion.

The song is metaphorical, lets play doctor is a different and subtle way of making things the way they used to be, but in that he wants her to make him understand why and where things went wrong, "you could help solve this case .... for me" "we'll have to hurry up before the flesh decays..." Flesh is a metaphor for the spark in a relationship, he's saying that they have to hurry up and find a way to make things ok before there is no chance left. "your death is such a shame" = I don't think of you any more and I can't bear it. "It's not a suicide, it's a crime
I have a witness, it's clearly evident
There had to be someone else present
At the time of death, poisons in stomach
How could she pull it, if she's dead?"
this is tricky to explan but I think, "it's not a suicide, it's a crime" may be about her cheating on him hence the someone else present (who she may have cheated with) and "how could she pull it, if she's dead?" may be from her argument for cheating eg. Her saying something like "you never thought of me so I went with someone who did." to me all this makes sense, what do you guys think? -
Obviously you guys should watch the video. I only saw one person get close to the right meaning.

when I saw them live the other day Buddy said something along the lines of "This song is about a lass, Who unfortunately isn't alive anymore. I wrote this song for my old friend Courtney" something like that anyway. but the song is a story obviously, a tribute to his old friend.

This song is a tricky one to figure out, but if you look at the lyrics closely, it is about a girl who is emotionally "dead" to him, and he is singing about how he wants to figure out what happened between them, and that things weren't as it seemed to be in their relationship.
As said on songfacts.Com -
I think you are close. But I think it's about Buddy being over this girl and he wants to break up with her but first we wants to find out what went wrong. Her refers to her as being dead- a dead relationship. Possible poisoning could mean that maybe someone helped him make the decision to drop her or maybe he found someone else.

This is about a FICTIONAL CHARACTER that died and that he wanted to find out who and that it was the boyfriend or ex boyfriend he didn't get that far. don't you guys listin to it hurts when I pee? It said it on there he had an interview about the song's meaning.

I love this song. Although it talks about a girl dying, it's still a really good song.
