Can't Be Saved Lyrics

Follow your bliss
It reads on my chest
I know I got it tattooed for a reason
Why can't I just hold it true?

'Cause I'm still crashing all the funerals
Of these people that I never knew (yeah)

I'm stuck in a coma
Stuck in a never ending...

The song is about pretending to be sonething you aren't, and the struggled that goes along with getting back who you truly are. It took plenty of time to realize that you've been living your life a lie, your whole self was meant to be someone else. You get so used to who you 'where' that it's miserable and very hard to get back who you are.

It's about waking up and realizing who you are, it talks about how he is in a coma and when he wakes up he will realize he's being something he isn't. It's all about being who you are, not who you aren't. It has no distinct poke towards gays or straights, it's just the easiest subject to relate the meaning of the song.

A sing that used to be one of my favorites until I saw the music video. I can't listen to the song without thinking about the gay kid. I thought the song was about him being held back from his dreams by his addiction to alcohol. He waits for his god to save him until he realizes there is no god and nobody will save him but himself. That was my interpretation .

At a SF concert I went to, Buddy described this as a song about doing what you love.
