Shiny Toy Guns: When They Came For Us Meaning
When They Came For Us Lyrics
Why are the Robots so sad?
We’re not in trouble anymore...anyway
And no more
Synthetic fighting
They stopped the lightning
After today...
When they took the beach that day
They stole the children
Took them away
And I miss...

This song is totally awesome but sad at the same time. I think the meaning of this song is that during a war maybe, soldiers might have invaded a place and taken away the young children and taken them as prisoners. The families would pray that they would be safe. "All the robotic families searching the circuitry for what remains."- This probably meant that families watched the news, or something like that, to see what is happening, or for any news of what was found. When the Mother said,"Father's sleeping and he is watching from far away." The soldiers might have killed the father. War is so sad. That is probably why the robots are sad.

This is one of the best songs, but it is strange. The lyrics talk a lot about robots. It sounds like all the children were on a beach, and taken away. This part seems like it might be the story of 'the Pied Piper', but all the robots don't fit in with that, unless they mean to say the people are robotic when they say "all the robotic families". from the line "why are the robots so sad?" it's obviously because the children were taken away, "each and every one of us still pray...searching the circuitry, looking for clues" they are trying to find the children. In the lines, "I remember mother that day... and he is watching from far away" it is very obvious that the father is dead, and the mother is crying about it.
