Smoking Popes: Megan Meaning
Megan Lyrics
When she's around
I was on the tracks
When the gate came down
Suddenly I recognized
Those bloodshot rearview mirror eyes as mine
I heard that whistle call my name
I almost drove away
But Megan I had a feeling that...
-
MEGAN IS IN HELL. He died on the tracks and went to the gates of heaven BUT Megan is in hell so he just waited there instead of following the people into heaven.
-
I feel like it’s less literal about death than it is about just missing someone. I think this song is about loving this girl, Megan, and not being able to be with her again but still trying to see her. I think he’s waiting and waiting for her at this train he thinks she’ll be on but she never shows up so eventually he moves on. When he says “somebody came and took my hand, i finally had to go” i feel he is finally moving on and letting someone else in his life because he has to let go, but he still wants Megan to know that he tried his best and will always care about her.
-
He's dead, you guys. He died on the tracks in the beginning. "The blood shot rear view mirror eyes were mine" - he realizes he's dead. But he tries to wait for Megan. The place with the clean air and the sun never goes down is heaven. The line up is the line at the gates of heaven. He puts it off because he wants to be with Megan again. But in the end he has to go - "I waited as long as I could".
-
Megan is dead and he keeps wanting to reunite with her. The first time, he ends up at the gates of heaven (and must have been revived), because he ends up back alive. He then attempts to kill himself again, then finds someone there to stop him and help him out.
-
His girlfriend megan left him, so he killed himself by parking his car on railroad tracks.
-
Someone really must love Megan
