Stone Sour: Bother Meaning
Song Released: 2002
Bother Lyrics
My self-affliction fades
Stones to throw at my creator
Masochists to which I cater
You don't need to bother;
I don't need to be
I'll keep slipping farther
But once I hold on,
I won't let go 'til it...
-
The lines that stood out to me were "stones to throw at my creator; masochists to which I cater". He's referencing god. He compare god to a masochist because he feels as though god is getting pleasure out of his suffering. Overall the song is about suicide and depression. He mentions death alot and wishes he was dead or number from all emotions
-
It is about holding a grudge.
-
This song is a suicide note to the singer's family. He wants to end it all because they are controlling of his life and he has no say (never had a voice to protest), overly critical (my flaws were open season), and when he could no longer endure, he gave up (For this, I gave up trying
One good turn deserves my dying). Although numbed by depression, he hid it (A zombie hides my face
Shell forgotten).
Don't try to stop me (You don't need to bother)
I don't need to go on living (I don't need to be)
If I go on living, it will only keep getting worse (I'll keep slipping farther)
Possible means of suicide is cutting of the wrist or throat with a knife or a gunshot (But once I hold on,
I won't let go 'til it bleeds) -
It's about losing yourself and then finding yourself.
I'll keep slipping farther (losing yourself)
Once I hold on, I won't let go till I bleed (finding yourself) -

I believe this song is about low selfesteem, regardless of how much you try. believing your a failure even though you fight till the end, nothing works out
