System of a Down: Attack Meaning
Attack Lyrics
Holding this in mind
That if we fall, we all fall
And we fall alone
The cold insincerity of steel machines
Have consumed our euphoria
Transforming us into muted dreams
Dreaming of the day that
We...

#1 top rated interpretation:If we fall we all fall and we fall alone-
in the war if we fall everyone falls and noone will be there to scoop us up when we fall.
The cold insincerity of steel machines have comsumed our euphoria- we hide behind the fact that we have advanced technology and say that our advancement will protect us.
Books illustrate what we already know candles cry towards the sky racing your flags along polluted coasts- we keep the same "truth" circulating thru our country, and not letting some of the actual truth leak in. Candles cry towards the sky= we still have some hope racing your flags along polluted coasts= america getting into every country/their buisness
whats the philosphy of displaced minds- whats the use of the philosophy of minds who are brainwashed and manipulated by the government.
Truth is the only source bleeding minds- minds bent and turned to the government's way.
So, in a nutshell, government bringing us all down and brainwashing/manipulating us to believe we're safe and alright by technological advancements. -

#2 top rated interpretation:The song comments on how cultures like the american one accept the reality of war and how cultures have a war mentality and also how media programs people to thinks that war is okay

4. Attack - all of a sudden, America is in full-out war with Iraq. It's been so long since America's been in a major war, we are in a "euphoria" of peace, etc, and we are all just waiting ("dreaming of the day") for something like this to happen. It tells that America was bombing Iraq (not just military bases, if any), public buildings and the like, just to "get to Saddam and the WMD's." (read: take all the oil) -
I could be wrong, but I believe the song is about the atrocities and confusion surrounding The Vietnam War at the time (mid-1960s). The song begins and i heard this line especially:
"if we fall, we all fall, and we fall alone"
This could represent the "Domino Theory" which was basically the idea that if Vietnam fell under communist control, it would create a domino effect and cause more and more countries to come under communism. This was part of the propaganda and the U.S. used this theory to justify entering Vietnam. The next lines are:
"The cold insencerity of steel machines has consumed our euphoria, transforming us into muted dreams, dreaming of the day when we attack"
Possibly about the Vietnam peasants, who knew no other life but simple farming, being killed by guns and helicopters. Or the effects of PTSD on Vietnam Vets during deployment.
Then these lines:
"Attack your fetal servitude.....attack with pesticides"
Possibly referring to napalm being against the enemy. Fetal servitude? I dont know. Next line is
"All the years of propoganda, we shall attack"
The media misrepresented a lot of the horrors going on in Vietnam at the time, possibly government propaganda. Plus the Domino Effect excuse they used to get to Vietnam and attack.
"Books illustrate what we already know, candles cry towards the sky"
Books do illustrate what we know, war sucks.
Peace candles were used to demonstrate against the war.
"Racing your flags along polluted coasts"
The pentagon used Okinawa island as a staging point for the war and as such, it is now a toxic dump known as the garbage can of the pacific, not to mention the pollution of vietnam coasts themselves. Its also worth mentioning the metaphorical pollution of communism into the world.
"Whats the philosophy of displaced mines? The bombing of all homes and villages?"
Why kill all these innocents? Was there any justification? Did the US intend for this to happen?
Or I could be wrong, SOAD uses a metric ton of metaphors to create riddles out of a lot of their songs. This is just my opinion. -
Basically what I gleaned from the lyric of this song is that it is about starcraft 2. An entire army of ghosts walks into enemy territory, and just fucks everything.

ok attack, it means as we keep fighting military and computers in general will keep getting more advanced
eventually they will realize they don't need us and kill us
"we all fall and we fall alone" means it will only be us that dies becuase the dear and other animales did not do anything and don't represent and kind of threat to them so well fall alone means the human race.
bombing of the home and villiges means our homes will be destroyed and the rest of us will band together in villiges however still we fall.
schools and hospitals becuase well its kinda simple its an easy place to kill human life, schools are filled with children wat are they gonna be able to do to fight back and hospitals becuase there just easy targets -

I believe that it means that all the nukes and new weapon advancements are getting out of hand and soon everyone is going to be at war and we are just going to go all out bombing whatever we have in sight.....like schools or hospitals

Well just like their song A.D.D they said something about body parts and like the song aerials, they said something about walls what the song attack is saying is that since we attack each other instead of attacking our walls there is death and they are going show us our mistakes by puting those body parts on the same walls that divides us
