I agree with the suicide but how SOAD plays the music and the repetitions of certain phrases like the song begins with quiet music than hits it hard means of sad thoutsthen suicidal and violent thoughts don't no if SOAD know what meanings they put in a song but the people think of things that help shape life from a song ...

This song is about suicide/murder and Clementine. Someone who was not loved by Clementine was driven into insanity and shrinks could not help so the protagonist contemplates suicide with different ways. Bleeding in a sink, choking on a link and poisoning a drink. But it could also be that since our protagonist is not loved by clementine he's is driven into insanity and once again contemplates a way to kill her.

How the fuck does daron get his voice that high?

    I mean...

I'm all for the suicide theory. As, what my psychologist would call a 'depressed insomniac with constant violent thoughts', I gotta say that sounds spot on.

The thing with S.O.A.D there songs could have many meanings so one O.O.V is not the one. Have you noticed how many times his says "baby" and at the end the verse "it's in the taking, making, baking, taking, faking" baking I have a feeling it's about a girl that is pregnant and thinking of ways to kill the baby "poisoning a drink" killing baby with ...Baby poison? , "bleeding in a sink" damageing womb(sink) wall which will bleed ,"choking with a link" well killing foetus by clamping umbilical cord. Now the revenge...The father of the baby raped the girl and gave her the baby so now she got to terminate it, and top of that she's called "just your mother's ho" cause she got pregnant with no boyfriend or husband. Ouch my neck...Brain too big. :) so basically it's about abortion and what comes with it, (btw I spell bad)

I think the song is about someone who is depressed and gets turned down by the love of their life. They resort to getting their own back (revenge) by hurting/killing theirself(bleeding in a sink, etc).
"...Go away" is the turning down part.
"my sweet clementine" is the love of they persons life.
"shoulda been coulda been woulda been you etc" is what they want her to think.

That's just what I think. It's probably a lot deeper than this.

I like the comment about all the forms of suicide....Only he says the sweet revenge will be yours for the taking. So it could be he will do those things to her as revenge for turning him down. He also calls her a ho several times. Then at the end he says
    "my sweet clementine
    ho
shoulda been coulda been woulda been woulda been you"
which I believe he means my sweet clementine coulda been you, you ho....But instead he had to kill her to get revenge.

Perhaps it has something to do with a girl cheating on him and then laughing and telling him to "go away". At least, I saw this concept when in a similar situation.

Actually, to the anonymous person above me, he does mention the name Clementine but I'm sure that's not the name of the person. Actually, I believe it's an obscure reference to the actual song, "Oh My Darling Clementine" and American Folk Ballad accredited to Percy Montrose and/or Barker Bradford. The song is about a bereaved miner who loses his love (Clementine) in a terrible drowning accident. So as I said before (i'm the one that wrote the suicide reference) he's bereaved at her rejection and therefore, plots his revenge as I stated before. So, now you know.

Okay this song has nothing to do with "dreaming" at all.... Sounds like a cool theory, but no it's wrong. This song is about a guy who loves a girl who hates his guts and laughs at him.... What should he do : Poison her drink, cut her throat over a sink, choke her to death.....

He says her name in the song "My sweet Clementine."

    Now you understand!

It sounds to me that it's all about revenge... with the lines "Poisoning a drink, bleeding in a sink, choking with a link, killing with a stink"

Just thought I'd speak my mind.

I think it's about someone being turned down by a girl
I saw her laugh then she said go away, meaning she pays no attention to him,and should have been could have been would have been you meaning, he would have been with her but was rejected :)

(continuing my series of SoaD vs. Iraq war, see Soldier Side (Intro) for my track listing)

    9. Revenga - seems as though our beloved moronic girl (from "Dreaming") wants revenge for the death of her man. people said she could never join the Army and go to Iraq. She laughed at them and got pissed all of a sudden because she had been rejected to be stationed in Iraq, then told whoever chastised her to "go away." it "should've been, could've been, would've been" that person instead of her man. The end of our Iraq setting.
