All of your friends close by your side

This song was actually written in reply to a letter from a girl called Carrie from Brisbane, Australia. She was going through a really difficult time, with depression and low self-esteem etc and so wrote a letter and poem to The Ataris because they inspired her. Kris Roe replied but she had moved and so it was returned to it's sender. He thought the worst but wrote a song in the hopes that she would hear it and know that he read her letter and wanted her not to give up. Her music tastes changed and she didn't listen to the song, however 4 years later she was at a festival where they were playing, heard the story and realised it was about her and went backstage to meet them. I heard this from a teacher who has a friend who is a friend of the girl.

In a nutshell this song was written about a girl somewhere in europe who was critically ill for months in hospital, she listened to the ataris and wrote Kris a letter and poetry about how his music helped her pull through. Kris got so inspired by this he wrote a reply, hence the lyrics and song title. James
