    I was seeing a girl for five weeks and after I called it off a bit prematurely, she came to see me at the bar I'm always at and we ended up kissing that night. After I asked her what that kiss meant to her, she turned the whole thing around on me like she was ending it instead of me. Then I heard this song and it only speaks to me in my wanting to tell her I wish I knew what she was looking for! Because I would have known what she would find in me: someone genuine. But that's not what she wants, apparently, and she still had to play games even tho I ended it. Now I want to text her again but I am too stubborn!

    Evening Night Viewer, lol thank you for going along with this trail of thoughts.If I receive any clearer message on this, it will arrive sometime soon. I meant to say re: soulmates - there are so many people who could be ONE but remain separated for so long due to nervousness, Ego,stubbornness to explore life changes etc.I feel the song over all speaks loud and clear on communication barriers that induce loveless fascination ( somewhat like pen pals of the 70s ) We need more clarity in life to reduce wasted time,what if's,and ending up day dreaming or star gazing all the "coulda beens "- Sometimes when words fail music speaks.     Night Viewer, far too early for this but I’ll give into the perception this was more painted in their minds then an act of physical nature. The song ironically recently resonated with me on that. It occurs so often in life that one or the other person says something so carelessly - the other reads into it with caution. Results can and do leave both baffled. Great song and perhaps a lesson that we ought to be more absolute and clear in life when we are about to meet someone. I believe there are many “ soulmate “ potentials drifting for sheer lack of clearer direct spoken intentions. Aka “ wasted time game playing or word playing or lack of ability to just trust it’s ok to be direct as well save the jokey ego comments until we are certain we are more understood.
    Still , music is dancing poetry and subliminal puzzlers we all seem to cherish. If there’s any factual reality to the writers song he’s perhaps a jackass isn’t he ? For not just being more clear when he had the chance.instead “ wish he knew what she was looking for “. He might have known he could let her find it .... lol goodness. It would be torture looking up to the stars chronically attempting to piece together something caused by poor Ego or benefit of any doubt his nervousness. I say he as we listen it is a man vocals.     Under The Milky Way lyrics, I think they talked underneath the stars and one of them said something wrong. Perhaps the boy or the girl. I think your first interpretation, is close to the interpretation of this song. I don't think it's your second interpretation, because like you said, almost, I don't think something physical happened. It's more of what's inside their minds or one of them really said what's inside their heart. But Bella, nice interpretation. You can be a writer.

    He almost...met a girl,they corresponded he found this woman intriguing,for him,that rarely occurs.They hit it off instantly.There dialogue was heated with intense unspoken passion.She struck a gentle chord with hi that just doesn't happen in his world.They could have been forever looking for someone standing right in front of themselves.He stupidly said something....a common quote he uses to often and so carelessly.She being a deep thinker found it made her doubt his intentions, she felt uneasy.Too bad,perhaps it was just his nervousness because she opened up that gentle side he likes to keep guarded. Never the less she walked away, she has no more time in life for " words games" or Ego's;and why should she if a man wants something beautiful he just says so, his guard drops.She will never say what she was looking for in text and he will never know.The milky way - he's just dreaming of her at nights,wishing he had dropped his guard, wondering what he said that made her silent watching the stars forever wondering.He only says " should have known what you would find" so again he can keep his cool guy wall up. Either that or it was a one night stand...they both regretted as they both had more feelings.That's my take -- Bella
