Save the Last Dance for Me Lyrics
-
This is about a husband who allows his wife to dance with other men during a party. There's a saying that Dancing is the vertical manifestation of the horizontal desire. With high rates of divorce nowadays, dancing with other people besides your spouse is a a risky freedom to allow unless your spouse has only eyes for you and you trust them so much. But it depends upon those couples involved.
Spinster -
I heard years ago that it was written about a couple who loved music and dancing. The husband had been injured and couldn’t dance so he told his wife to go ahead and dance, but to save the last one for him.
-
It seems to me that "the last dance," is what happens when the couple get home, what Bob Seeger called the "horizontal bop."
