For Reasons Unknown Lyrics
I look a little bit older.
I look a little bit colder.
With one deep breath, and one big step, I move a little bit closer.
I move a little bit closer.
For reasons unknown.
I caught my stride.
I flew and...

#1 top rated interpretation:this song is cleary about a man who has been in a realationship for many years. he no longer loves his partner and even though he is getting old and is scared of leaving her he is just going to bite the bullet and go.

#2 top rated interpretation:Brandon says it himself on stage. Watch the new DVD and listen to what he says.
"Any of you people ever love somebody? Sometimes it happens very quickly, very easily. As easy as a young English girl's hair falls across her shoulders. Sometimes it disappears just as quick. You wake up one morning. The butterflies stop fluttering. But you want it back and you want to fight for it. You want to breathe that fire again. So you call for it."
And then the audience does a singalong until they kick in the final chorus. I always loved this song, but even more so now after hearing him describe it. -

#3 top rated interpretation:The song is clearly not about an ex-grilfriend of his. it's about someone he knows got alzheimer. thats what almost every line of lyrics is trying to tell you
-
His friends chose him to get kick out from the group he belonged and he feels he can’t trust anyone again, he still is alive and can think, but doesn’t feel good with anybody anylonger

Old but gold.
To me, when he says "I know if destiny's kind, I've got the rest of my mind" As someone who has suffered anxiety and panic attacks, this just hits me because I'm in a constant state of fear. I fear my destiny and I fear that I will lose it one of these days. To me, it just means that if the future is nice to me, then I will not loose my mind.
"And my heart, it don't beat, it don't beat the way it used to"-this phrase, to me it means that I once had a passion for something that made my life have a meaning and a purpose. Life took a while turn and I no longer feel passionate about it. When I used to talk about the topic, it's like it made my heart beat. It was something I looked up to and not anymore. -
Alzheimer's thats all I can say listen and hear the pain in his voice too. If you've dealt with someone who has Alzheimer's it just screams it to me.
-
How about it is about a middle aged person who is losing their mind-for whatever reason and having these feelings. They make no sense. They hope that their mind will return to normal. A mid life crisis.
-
a man is leaving or a woman is leaving even tho they are older and they are hoping that they can find another life
they are a little bit older not really old.
They are a little bit colder not as warm in the relationship.
It's not at all about losing their mind or thoughts but they are not sure why they are leaving the reason is unknown
he or she lost the passion in the relationship it is not the way it used to be. pretty simple -
I think this song is about a man that has fallen out of love with a woman he once loved but he's not sure why his feelings have changed. It's kinda similar to my personal interpretation of All The Pretty Faces
-
I think For Reasons Unknown is about the fear of getting older and loosing everything. "I know if destiny's kind, I've got the rest of my mind" If Destiny is kind, he'll still have his mind, but everything else: his "heart, it don't beat the way it used to" "eyes don't recognise you anymore" and "lips, they don't kiss the way they used to" Arn't working like they used to and he doesn't quite understand why, "For Reasons Unknown."

This song has little to nothing to do with love, I dont know why every one insists on this.
I see it as a man who is growing older, growing more mature and more cynical while every one around him remains the way they are. He is moving on, and moving out, leaving every one knew behind....
He seems to be thinking on a somewhat bleak note to, which makes me feel that perhaps he is near death.
So even while he understands he is moving on, its still confusing and and sad for him to feel his heart, his lips and his eyes slowly fading and dying.
Thats just my interpretation of it though.

Im not sure what this song means, but it reminds me of my aging grandfather's battle with alzheimers before he died. He knew his reasoning skills were fading, and he would jokingly ask if it were time to pack his suitcases and move into a nursing home - we didnt do that, but much of this song could be from the failing eyes of an elderly person
-
To me, this song describes to a "T" my personal experience of falling out of love with someone. An ex-lover/friend and I were reunited after a decade of complete separation. Now, back in the day there was an ever-present attraction for one another, no matter how long or how often we had been apart. This time the desire was just...gone. It was truly as though I was seeing this person through different eyes. My kisses were chaste rather than intimate. Physical closeness was affectionate, not charged like it was years ago.
-
After Listening to this song afew times i can to this conclusion that i think it is about people getting old beacuse "my lips don't kiss the way they used to" and "my eyes don't see you no more" and they are saying that they know they are getting old but they don't know why they have to which is where the name For Reasons Unknown comes in... i more then likely wrong but this is what i think
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
i thinks it's about a guy who has been going out with a girl for ages and now he's fallen out of love with her - he doesn't know why maybe they've just drifted apart. despite this it's still a bit hard for him to tell her he wants to leave
-
I think this is about a guy dating his ex-girlfriend - "my eyes don't recognise you no more" - and he's never done anything llike it before. the "For Reasons Unknown" bit is all about how he doesn't know why he's doing it.
