    As said, it is well known what the song is about. These two had and luckily still have such a strong bond, it's something rare to find. "I'm still in love with you", words full of meaning put in between some harsh verses; shows how their love remains extremely deep even after having been challenged so hard.
    That's honestly the kind of connection I aspire to find in my life.
    Still a relevant song to this day.

    It is a well known fact that this song is a documentation of the breakup of pete and carl's relationship due to pete's heroin addiction "you shut me out and blamed it on the brown" a truly brilliant honest song about such a tragic subject !

    This song is part of probably the greatest break up record of all time. It is about the love-hate relationship between band memebers Pete Doherty And Carl Barat. This is also the beginning of the end of one of the greatest rock bands of our generation:
    "An ending fitting for the start

    During the song they are both arguing but still saying they love each other:

    Carl:"Your light fingers through the dark
    that shattered the lamp and into the darkness cast us...:

    Pete:"No you've got it the wrong way round

    cornered the boy, kicked out at the world...the world kicked back
    alot fuckin' harder now"

    And the chorus best sums up that love-hate relationship:
