Apartment Story Lyrics

Be still for a second while I try and try to pin your flowers on
Can you carry my drink I have everything else
I can tie my tie all by myself
I’m getting tied, I’m forgetting why

Oh we’re so disarming darling, everything we did believe

It's funny that this song was written well before the pandemic, but is clearly a montage to being depressed and locked in your house. "Oh, we're so disarming, darling, everything we did believe; is diving, diving, diving, diving off the balcony." The phrase itself parallels the new policies and madness created by world governments during the pandemic. Everything we used believe has gone completely out the window for better or worse. "I'm getting tired, I'm forgetting why." The lockdowns and being locked in your house for so long has created a sense of exhaustion and delusion. "Sleep in our clothes and wait for winter to leave." I can only imagine that there is an end to being confined to our homes for this long, and winter is it. The biggest parallel in this song to the pandemic is unmistakable with this one line, "We'll stay inside 'til somebody finds us, Do whatever the TV tells us." TV was the primary method used for communicating to the mass public, and the mass public will listen to everything they say no matter how outlandish that message is. "So worry not, all things are well. We'll be alright. We have our looks and perfume on." In reality, it was never as bad as everyone seemed to make it. We will be just fine, and it's time to get out of your pajamas and get ready to see the world.
