I Want Candy Lyrics
She's so fine, she can't be beat
Got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire
I want Candy, I want Candy
Go to see her with her hair hung down
Ain't no finer girl in town
Candy's just what...

“I Want Candy,” the strangely timeless song released by The Strangeloves in 1965 (and Bow Wow Wow in 1982) has been said to be about everything from sex, to drugs, to actual candy. The Strangeloves were a group of producers who'd had a big hit with “My Boyfriend’s Back” by The Angels. They were inspired to write "I Want Candy" in 1965 after they took a trip to the 1964 World’s Fair in Flushing, Queens, New York. While at the World’s Fair the producers saw a performance by Candy Johnson, a dancer known as “Miss Perpetual Motion.”

I agree with the latest comment, saw the video and it's not good. The older guy looks like a father to the younger girl.
Nowadays, young men and older men still choose women or girls younger than they are. I believe it's right for guys to choose a much younger girl for them. I see married guys who are married to a younger woman and guys who has a gf who are younger than them, like 12 to 5 years younger. I think these age gaps would very much work for guys and girls in this generation since it worked out in the older generation. But every guy has a mind of their own and it's up to them how young they want the girl to be. But of course, not too young to be their daughter. That's a taboo.

The 80's version is pedophilic in nature. Take a look at the age of the girl singing it and then you'll understand. It's not good...lol!

This intepretation is rated "R", at least, if not "NC-17", but is the accurate one.
This song is about oral sex, specifically fellatio. Obviously, "Candy" is not the name of any "guy", but boy-candy is a prominent nickname for the male sex organ, particularly but not exclusively in the LGBT community. Lyrical references to when "the sun GOES DOWN" and "you make my mouth water" are clues. So are references to candy "on the beach" and "wrapped in a wsweater" (condom).
P.S. The original group name was actually "Bow Wow Wow", not just "Bow Wow".
