Crowing Lyrics

Been waiting

To find

You could've been happier

Given the time

If he'd make up his mind

You'd give yourself to anybody

Crowing is tribute to searching for that special someone, but struggling to commit and find commitment in someone else. It is written from a third party viewpoint about a girl and her affection for a friend that is bordering on something more. She can't gain commitment from him or give herself to anyone else without knowing if relationship with him can work. If he'd make up his mind, she'd be free to commit totally to someone else. He was broken and needed someone to give him strength. She wanted to fill that void and gave him love and affection. She sensed it in his actions in the fault lines of his "cold little hand" revealing he was just a shell of man without inspiration and hope. Those thoughts of him in the back of her mind haunted her and left her wondering if he was just a friend. She gave what she could and in the end realized, she too was crowing for repair with equal and opposite feelings of regret and failing to realize if he was the one until he was gone. The emptiness of the unknown was now eternal.
