Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann) Lyrics

[voices fading in]

[Nurse:] Excuse me? Doctor? Do you have a moment?

[Doctor:] A moment? What's the question?

[Nurse:] More of a situation, a gentleman in exam 3.

[Doctor:] What's the problem?

[Nurse:] That is the problem,...

Timothy Leary commonly referred to LSD as a "key". Lost keys, could be a reference to the fact that we've in a sense lost these "keys". Blame Hofmann, although good ole Al Hofmann did synthesize LSD, experimentation with altered consciousness goes far beyond his work.

I submit to you, dear readers, that this track, and it's accompanying song is actually about Diethylmethyltryptamine, or DMT. While very different in scope and experience from lysergic acid diethylamide, it is still one of these "lost keys". The keys to understanding consciousness, the universe, or what... I can't say.

We "lost" the keys in the 1970s and 1980s. Hallucinogenic and entheogenic research and experimentation in the private sector dropped dramatically. Instead, we seem to have lost these keys, and picked up the loaded handgun of cocaine and heroin.

Blame Hoffman could just as easily have been Blame Leary... But I don't think our dear Mr. Keenan is quite that transparent.

    It's simple.
Guy talks about being abducted by aliens in Rosetta Stoned.
    Hoffman invented Acid
Guys vitals are stable, so he's clearly not high or in a former state of being high.
They're blaming it on acid even though he's not high.

    Blame Hoffman.

Danny Carey is an avid Area 51 watcher. The two songs are about a guy taking acid while watching for aliens and they come to him with a message to save humanity. But every time he tries to tell someone the message he defecates himself.

Lost Keys is all about when you misplace your keys or you lose your smokes or you forget where you placed your beer when you are on lsd. If you have done LSD or any other psychadelic you should know that you lose stuff when you are on LSD if you don't think ahead. I think it may be just a humourous title to describe being on LSD. It all leads into Rosetta Stoned.....

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

At first I thought like most people it was referring to Albert Hofmann was the first person to stumble upon LSD and it was named by him as my problem child but the nurse says vitals are normal so that got rid of that idea. Then I know this sounds crazy it being maynard and all but one day as I was listening to 3 Libra's I thought what does a libra have to do with anything so I looked it up and took notice to the fact libra is the 7th zodiac sign making this 777 I also noticed in the video 1 in the lobby the child (innocence) was the only one who noticed them and at the end the painting above the bed was God touching fingers but Adam wasn't there Gods fingers were touching MJK's head. If you go into a lot of his songs in both projects it's almost as if he's saying He is the son or at least able to make direct contact with 'God' and his mission is to show us we are all blindly following a false God by worshiping Jesus we pray to just a man who was not perfect cause his birth to age 13 is documented then jumps to 30 don't know about y'all but I sinned my ass off those years...

but Blame Hofmann I pretty sure has to with Hofmann's church and religious goods trying to turn a profit off crosses and everything

As for Lost Keys I see as possibly refuring to the key to the gates of Heaven

Then Rosetta Stoned song that follows says And after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning, E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose.
He said, "You are the Chosen One, the One who will deliver the message. A message of hope for those who choose to hear it and a warning for those who do not."
    Me. The Chosen One?
    They chose me!!!
And I didn't even graduate from fuckin' high school.

    You better.
    You better.
    You better.
    You better listen.

    then later...
    You believe me, don't you?
Please believe what I just said, see the Dead ain't touring.
And this wasn't all in my head.
See they took me by the hand and invited me right in,
    Then they showed me something.
I don't even know where to begin.

he makes a documentry called 'Blood into Wine' Ladies and gentalmen Blood is thicker than Water

you can all believe what you want but before you feel the erge to bash mine ask yourself "who are you to wave your finger you must've been out your head"

never go to the hospital if you are tripping balls.

    A) there is nothing they can do to stop the trip.
    B) Hospitals are scary in general, especially on psychedelic drugs.
    C) Stay home and ride out the trip in the comfort of familiar surroundings.

Ive heard, and it makes sense. that the song is about Maynard after his mom dieing him going on a drug binge and waking up in the hospital and Hofmann is the doctor that treated him, and Rosetta Stoned is the story of him telling the doctor everything that happened( 10,000 days the album I heard is soposto be his mom dieing for 10,000 days from cancer).

This song is the intro to Rosetta Stoned, it shows that the guy in Rosetta Stoned is in a hospital of some sort and how he's reacting to being in the hospital (before he tells his story). He's on LSD, hense the blame Hofmann part of the title, because the man who created LSD was named Hofmann. As for lost keys it's all the time that someone loses when they are on LSD or other drugs and/or alcohol, like a hangover.

This song fits into Rosetta Stoned. It's about the same person if you listen to the lyrics it's the character in the hospital after he is on LSD (which is what Rosetta Stoned is about.) isn't it funny that the intro to Rosetta Stoned is right after this song and the intro to Rosetta stoned is the end of Lost keys? the story of the person is Rosetta stoned, Lost keys is the person in the hospital.
