Vertical Horizon: You're A God Meaning
Song Released: 2000
You're A God Lyrics
I think you know
We're covered in lies and that's ok
There's somewhere beyond this i know
But i hope i can find the words to say
Never again no
No never again
'cause you're a god
And i am not
And i just...

I always thought this sing was about putting peoole in pedestals but then letting go of that belief. The belief that they're above you or somehow better than you.
In the video Tiffani theissan is a beauty queen who is seen as perfect but in reality off stage)she's not. I think it's about understanding a person you built up in your mind is not perfect. -
It's sarcastic. I would know. I wrote it

I agree with the Dec 13th 2010, 22:33 comment, that this song is sarcastic. I think the song is about letting someone who thinks they don't make any mistakes go without making them angry or challenging their ego. As we all know we all make mistakes, and we can also recall persons in our lives that considered themselves better than others and mistake-free.

Such an inspiring song...
Let me put it this way... The lyrics to me are meat to signify that you believe your partner is higher up than you are. You can't let them go even though you are thinking about doing that, "i've been unable, to put you down". You've made mistakes with this person and you don't want to make the same mistakes again "never again, no".
Now i researched this song a bit and the lyric writer states that this song is about any kind of relationship (your boss, friend, family member, etc... ) and he says that its basically saying that the power they had over you is now over and that you have looked past them.
Hope this may give you a little insight on the song -
supports that is is a brake up song

We are covered in lies
- Pretending to be something they are not
Your a God And i am not
- You are of a higher status then me -
I think that he was being sarcastic throughout the whole song...
-
This is about a guy who absolutely adores his girlfriend. He realizes though that she could have better if she left him, so throughout the song he tries to convince her of that, hence:
"You're a god and I'm not and I just thought I'd let you go..."
He loves her enough to let her go and find true happiness; even though it will kill him inside, he's willing to do it for her because of how much he sincerely loves her.
