Vertical Horizon: I'm Still Here Meaning
Song Released: 2003
I'm Still Here Lyrics
They were always there
It just took some time for me to understand
You gave me words I just can't say
So if nothing else
I'll just hold on while you drift away
Cause everything you wanted me to hide
Is...

Honestly I believe that the artist was lying when he said the song was about advil to get people to stop asking him about it and to help him forget.
If you try to interpret the song being about sickness, one or two words never mind whole verses could be taken that way. Its just way too little. Especially whenever 90% of the song is referring to a person. Can advil walk away?
Just saying the artist doesn't always want to tell the audience exactly what the story behind the song is. Events that bring so much emotion aren't always things that we want to talk about, their very personal, so
to stop the flood of people from constantly asking him about it, he deflected the questions before they came by saying "It doesn't really mean anything, I was sick when I wrote it". -
Agreed with the other poster. He admitted that it was written while he was sick. He actually said it had no meaning at all (just lyrics thrown together), but that at best it was about feeling like crap because of his fever.

Actually, I went to a Vertical Horizon concert and he confessed that the song is just about Advil. He had a fever of 104 when he wrote it and just wanted Advil.
Not every song song is about love. -
If you were right and I was wrong, why are u the one who's gone and I'm still here.....I sort of take that to mean he is still the same guy but she has changed. Maybe she came to realized that she needed to grow up but it was too late. Her pride keeps her from taking responsibility. Thats why she walks away when he sees her or she burned the bridge and knows it.

This song is pretty simple, as far as Vertical Horizon goes, and not hard to figure out. I see it as a sparse relationship (perhaps one-sided like a lot of their songs) that ended with the girl up and heading to another place, leaving the boy there anguished and confused. "The cities grow, the rivers flow, where you are I'll never know" is a good indication that he probably never saw her again... It's pretty clear with his questions and memories presented that he still loves her even though they'll be apart forever; hence the title and chorus. He regrets what mistakes he may have made, and what made this girl angry enough to get away from him, in "If you were right and I was wrong, why are you the one who's gone?" and also has a bit of recalling the enjoyment she seemed to get from seeing him sad.
