Blister in the Sun Lyrics

When I'm out walking I strut my stuff yeah I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite I just might stop to check you out
let me go on like I blister in the sun
let me go on big hands I know your the one
body and beats I stain my sheets I don't even...

Contrary to popular belief, this song is NOT about masturbation. An episode of VH1's "True Spin" explains all. Gordon Gano wrote this about a girl he liked in high school. She was popular, and she told him that she wouldn't date him because he had tiny hands. It's written partially from her perspective. It's NOT about jacking off.

As a substance abuse counselor and someone who has seen many people addicted to this substance. This song is definitely referencing heroine addiction, withdrawals, and the damage it has on the the body and relationships in their life in with an oddly catchy beat :)

It’s about being ill-prepared for a test in high school. Strung out from stress. Stained sheets from sweat. Girl Friend is at the end of her wits (he is underachieving his potential). Taking the test with his big hand. Blister in the sun, a bad grade’s gonna hurt.

The VH1 interpretation is the only one that makes sense, though it doesn't explain "black-eyed blister in the sun" grins

The song is about masterbation regardless of the ridiculous reverse engineered excuse made up by GG on chicks and little hands. Big hands obviously about masterbating, gf crying cos she ain't getting any cos of his masterbation, staining sheets, that's masterbation and strung out, ie tension so as he's high he might pull it out and whack it in public cos he's less inhibited. Whats so funny though is that so many years later we are all still talking about words GG chose that sounded cool and worked as couplets.

I hate to say its a cliche drug related song. I saw the comment about the VH1 blah blah blah but yeah it sound like heroin addiction.

when you jack off usually you dont stain your sheets cuz your not going to shoot a load on perfectly good sheets unless you have to. but when you are yearning for someone and when your in highschool wet dreams are common. so i agree that its not about jacking off. it also might be about giving oral pleasure. my girlfriend shes at the end she is starting to cry. body and beats i stain my sheets..

Big hands is code for big breasts. It's about drugs and whacking it. Case closed.

It has to be about masturbation, maybe it has something to do with his girlfriend not dating him because he had small hands. but hello, how freaking vain can you get? and why is he staining his sheets?
