Why Don't We: 8 Letters Meaning
Song Released: 2018
8 Letters Lyrics
You know my worst, see me hurt, but you don't judge
That, right there, is the scariest feeling
Opening and closing up again
I've been hurt so I don't trust
Now here we are, staring at the ceiling
I've said those words...

#1 top rated interpretation:He met this girl, who has seen his worst and best days and she doesn't judge him with his past. He is scared because it is wonderful. He tries to open up to her, but it isn't as easy as it is. So, when he tries to open up with her about his feeling and past, he couldn't. In the past, he hurt so much so it's hard for him to trust again in case it makes him broken. He said to girls before, which isn't all true. As his current relationship deserves to hear it. because she makes him whole, and everything is great when they are together. He knows he should speak his mind but his past and hurtful part of him guarding him. "I love you" Is just eight letters, why they can't say it. As much as he wants this relationship to last, he fears it might not end well and he left heartbroken. SO, he pulls her close but also asks for space. Whenever he closes his eyes, it was her. Because he loves her deep and finding himself in between telling his true feeling and guarding himself against getting hurt.

#2 top rated interpretation:This song is about how the boy is in a beautiful relationship, but he has been hurt in the past ("I've said those words before but it was a lie") and has trust issues ("Why do I pull you close and then ask you for space"). This makes it hard for him to tell her how he feels about her (he loves her) because he is scared that the relationship might fall apart. He doesn't really have a good reason that it could go wrong, so he is frustrated that he can't just tell her that he loves her. ("If all it is is 8 Letters, why is it so hard to say?").

#3 top rated interpretation:If all it is is 8 letters (I Love You)
Then why is it so hard to say?
(it is so hard to say I love you because he doesn't know how he truly feels and he doesn't want to get hurt again so he tries to distance himself.) -
8 letters = iloveyou
I think the guy thinks that if he said it to his girl, he might get hurt again i think -
This song is about how the girl met a nice man who waited for her, respected her, appreciated her, and made her feel special, like a precious thing, but she has been hurt in the past ("I've said those words before, but it was a lie") and has trust issues ("Why do I pull you close and then ask you for space?"). This makes it difficult for her to tell him how she feels about him—that she loves him—because she is afraid that the relationship might fall apart and bring her pain again. She doesn't really have a good reason that it could go wrong, so she is frustrated that he can't just tell her that she loves him. ("If all it is is 8 Letters, why is it so hard to say?").
-tysm 4 waiting and sorry
-
It’s a boy that wants to commit in a relationship but afraid because of his past and traumas. He is afraid that the story will repeat itself.
-
I think that 8 letters is a sign to so the fans of why don't we limelights that they love us with all their hearts and I am a limelight so love you why don't we hope you guys see this
-
It reminds me of my past relationship. Whatever 8 letters mean "I am sorry/I love you". It's hard for me to say those words when the time he's asking me to comeback. I was so hurt. Of all the painful things I've been through with the relationship I decided " I think this is enough". I tried my best to ignore and to be distant. It's been 5 years still him. The song, it hit me when I close my eyes even in my dreams I see him. I wish I could say it but even if I can it's useless, he's happy with someone else now.
-
I thinik the 8 letter stands for "i am sorry" the song is a sad song. The song is not filled with joy. Boy is talking about the beautiful memories he had with the girl and what he feels about her when she is gone. This song touched me so hard.
-
I have two theories on the song. The first one is that a guy didn't give his girlfriend all the love and attention she needed and so they broke up(I love you). My second theory is that a guy's girlfriend got some type of disease and because of that they grew distant, in the end she died and he now realises that he wasn't there for her when he should have been(I miss you).

The eight letters are- I love you - when i first heard the song i counted the letters in I love you.
-
I think it means Corbyn died because Daniel, Jack, Jonah, and Zach were wearing black and Corbyn was wearing white and was in Clouds. And at the end they were together and corbyn was hard to see.
-
I'm pretty sure it means "fartface" because it says "if all it is eight letters why is it so hard to say" am the word fart face is eight letters and it is hard to call someone a fart face, right? just imagine going up to someone and saying fart face right in their face, you'd have to think about it before you do say it. plus the boys mentioned the word "fartface" in their genious interview :)
-
I think this song is about a boy who is new to a relationship and he is afraid of telling a girl he loves her thinking that in return he wont get the same answer. And so the 8 letters are "i love you".
-
That it’s hard for some one to say I love you and mean it. Especially if they’ve been hurt before after opening up. So they’re afraid of getting hurt as bad as this other time
-
The 8 letters can be whatever you want them to mean. When I am listing to this song I know that the common answer would be I Love You, but I think that the 8 letters are "I am sorry". Because I want to tell my girlfriend, "I am sorry... for being with you," but I just can't bring myself to say it.
