    I believe it is more along the lines of how the bond between “brothers” or soldiers who served on the military together never ends. The line “Bound to forever, even when we’re gone.” reinforces that they are tied together forever, even beyond death, as implied in the final verse, “We’ll be together, at the rising of the dawn.”

    I think he's trying to tell what's going in a soldier's mind on one context. Their relation to their unit as well as family back home.something about embracing the struggle and keep moving.
