A Perfect Circle: Sleeping Beauty Meaning
Sleeping Beauty Lyrics
I believe I can cure it all for you, dear
Coax or trick or drive or
drag the demons from you
Make it right for you sleeping beauty
Truly thought
I can magically heal you
You're far beyond a visible sign of your...

She's an addict. He tries to help her with her addiction but fails. He thought he could make it right for her but she's poisoned and hopeless. My ex dedicated this to me due to my alcoholism. I was sober for 5 years after but again became poisoned and hopeless after we broke up. I love this song.

Savior complex. This is something I struggle with. When I see a woman in pain or struggling with something, I can't help but to think that I "can make it right." It's obviously "delusional," and inevitably I will end up "failing miserably." Personal change is always just that, PERSONAL. If influenced by or done for someone else it will not work. This never stops me, and I have made this song kind of an anthem.

This song's meaning is about a girl who he was with and that girl was brainwashed of the society of that time, he is talking about that he knew the truth and this girl was dumbed down by society and he tried to help her awaken from her slumber meaning that she's asleep not literally asleep but her pineal gland "3rd eye" isnt open so she is blinded by the lies of her society. He talks about how he tried to cure her but she far to poison for him meaning that each time he tried to explain the truth to her she doesnt buy it because she is far too lost to even understand the "truth" and he is failing miserably to rescue her--she is hopeless and lost and will never find the truth unless she opens her "3rd eye"

I'm from germany, so writing an interpretation in correct english is a little difficult for me, but i'll try and hope i'm doing it well ;)
This song really reminds me on the relationship i had once with a girl, who was my best friend. After her dad killed himself she was getting more and more depressed, so that nobody, not even the closest people, could get through to her. Guess although she clearly was'nt able to let us in and help her because of her depression, i'm am also sure, that she didn't want us to. So that is "the coma" in this song.
And because you love this person so much, you try really hard to help and "awake" this person, although it hurts, because it leads to no results. It does not matter what you do, or how much you try, you can only and up sad and frustrated. The "poison"(depression) which is stuck in the person, won't get away. It even infects you, becouse you come to close to it.
But words like "delusional", "failing miserably", etc... show us, that the narrator has already understand, that he will never be the who can save the "sleeping beauty" (that he has chosen the words sleeping beauty really shows how much this person is loved. although he/she is sleeping and can not be reached, he/she still keeps being beautiful, loved, from the narrator). The narrator finally understands and resigns....
well maybe this one is a little to personal, but..that't the short form of what i'm thinking about this songtext! :) -
He is trying to find a cure while she in a coma but is coming to terms with the futility of it.
