The Doomed Lyrics
-
And of course people are going to take it as Blasphemy, because your a fool that listens but doesn't hear. One that looks but doesn't really see. He is calling out Christians that walk without Christ. The society we live in today? Look at these Christians!! They have taken Christ and said "Christ is not for the poor, he I to make the powerful, even more powerful"Its twisted, ITS Legion!!! Wake up, open your eyes! We need an Army!! Lile right now!!!

It seems the song lyrics are simply pointing out the juxtaposition of the sociopolitical climate in its current state as opposed to what it was not long ago. What used to be seen as socially unacceptable and taboo, for instance, fornication, living in excess, lacking compassion etc.. is now glorified, while having a moral stance now seen as archaic, even religious, such as showing compassion, being pious and having a charitable nature etc... is a show of weakness for lack of a better term. Thus, those in the latter category are doomed. Therefore the new climate is the new Christ, a school of thought that while almost the opposite of what Christ preached, nevertheless has and continues to spread as christianity did.

This song is about the antichrist. The way the world is today, they call good evil and evil good.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Maynard said, "In light of this current difficult and polarized social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder." It's a rant about our current socio-political environment.

It’s beyond what appears on the surface. I think he actually respects what Christ said in the Beattitudes. I think he is saying that as a society, we have rejected the fundamental meaning of that lesson and have turned our back on it. We have turned to a “new christ” we have ignored what Jesus said and we are ushering in anti-Christ in ideology. He is saying what Jesus said later on would happen, that we, Christians, would be hated by the world we live in. It’s evident everywhere we turn. It should be looked at as a word of warning even though Maynard is not a Christian.

I disagree. He's mocking the hypocrites in Christianity. This world is dying. It's people are dying. The religious speak of helping in public but behind closed doors they care not for the weak and suffering. Your government claims to be christian, yet it murders
