Alexisonfire: Sidewalk When She Walks Meaning
Sidewalk When She Walks Lyrics
Dressed to kill, you look so right
I am drunk with lust tonight
Your wounds are opening wide
And they might be just my size
Now I'm afraid of open water
But I often bathe in sin
Let's be honest, you know you shouldn't bother
'Cuz with...

I've been in a relationship like this. Sounds like he had narcissist qualities. Wounds are opening wide cause he is hurting her but knee how to play with her emotions. She knows she should leave but can't. Trauma bonding. Can't win with him cause he always has to be right.

I believe this song is intended as a warning to people that are socializing with others who've recently been damaged emotionally.
"Dress to kill you look so right,
I am drunk with lust tonight
Your wounds are opening wide,
And the might be just my size."
It would seem like Dallas Green is offering insight about the battle between love and lust. Alternatively, it may mean that the person was emotionally damaged in a similar way to "the speaker" and the similarities were so many that it caused fatal attraction.
In the second verse it would seem that the speaker is revealing his hypocritical nature. The speaker may enjoy dwelling in the familiar ("Now I'm afraid of open water, but I often bathe in sin.")
Continuing with the second verse the speaker seems to be explaining a feeling of guilt for being so attracted to the individual he is speaking of. Also, it would seem that he wants her to stay away from him while they are both emotionally damaged and prone to lustful interactions.
The rest of the song just reinforces the ideas placed in the first part of the song which is the longing to be with a person he feels he shouldn't be with and the resulting moral battle. -
The song "Side Walk When She Walks" by Alexisonfire is about the feeling of lust. This is just what I believe the song to be about. The song is about lust and they have been together in this 'relationship' for quite some time. He looks at her with desire (dressed to kill you look so right, I am drunk with lust tonight). He wants her and tries to persuade her into letting him from which she starts to cave in, (your wounds are opening wide) and then he takes advantage of this opportunity (and they might be just my size) [Otherwise I also believe that this line could mean that they want each other and their morals are starting to fade as they ease closer to each other]. The next line talks about how he is afraid of commitment or he could already be with his current girlfriend (now I'm afraid of open water) but his attraction to the her has left him coming back for more (but I often bathe in sin). She won't leave because she likes him, she knows she should, but if she tries he'll come pining back to her wanting more, so she doesn't. (let's be honest you know you shouldn't bother, cause with me it's impossible to win). Now here comes the climax and it is now that they realize their actions could mean something more (there was always warmth between us) but their practical minds tell them that its still lust. No matter how hard they will try or how long they go without seeing each other, there will be that connection between them.
It raises the question,
Could two people who are in a lustful relationship develop a sense of care for each other without it becoming love?
Think about it. -
Another thing this song may be about is taking advantage of a girl who was recently hurt emotionally, as in a break up. This is pointed out to me by the lyrics
"I am drunk with lust tonight
Your wounds are opening wide
And they might be just my size"
He is saying that he could fill that gap by being there for her. He is saying he often bathes in sin and he knows it's not right. When he says there was warmth between them, he is either justifying or explaining his actions to himself, or trying persuade the girl. -
I think they are talking about a break up.
"there was always a warmth between us"
Dallas sings about how he's afraid of open water (being single maybe)
And when they say
"Dressed to kill you look so right,
I am drunk with lust tonight
your wounds are opening wide
and they might be just my size"
Maybe they are talking about how even after a break up the guy still trys to get back with the girl and he's drunk and she could be talking down on him calling him everyname in the book.
And the guy just wants to hook up.
