Alexisonfire: This Could Be Anywhere in the World Meaning
This Could Be Anywhere in the World Lyrics
Buried in my neck
This town- it takes lives
Without Mercy
Without Hate
the streets are in distress,
the sun suffocates behind darkened skies
the grass is growing
on top of my feet
Im sinking
Wont be long...

#1 top rated interpretation:I strongly believe that this song is about homelessness and poverty within a city. Being trapped with no options. "because this city is haunted by ghosts from broken homes," being the homeless people living in the city with no meaning, no contributions, just hanging around haunting the place. "the line up seems endless, underneath the salvation signs" possibly suggests a line up to a shelter for food, such as the salvation army, etc. "this breeze feels more like shards of glass I'm more scars then skin" suggests living a rough life, possibly on the streets unprotected from the elements, etc.
Amazing song, so much poetic value and meaning. Its one of my favourites. -
Its about the illuminati and the NWO. Always is. read between the lines ppl.

The meaning of this song, like the whole Crisis album, resides in the Great Lakes Blizzard of '77. Residents of Southern Ontario (Niagara, where Alexisonfire come from) and Eastern US were stranded with feets of snow and couldn't get out.
Niagara was really a ghost town at that time, as shows the lyrics. The only lyrics that make no sense in this context are "The grass is growing on top of my feet", but I guess that's just another way to say that snow covers him up as he walks through town. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I really don't think I'm right.. but..
i think that the song is about wanting to get away from somewhere, like a town, or a situation or something..
"This Town has its claws Buried in my neck This town- it takes lives Without Mercy Without Hate "
and if he stays there for too much longer it will be impossible to leave:
"I'm sinking Wont be long before I'm too deep to run"
OR in the lyric above, he could be talking about geting lost in lies that he's told, this lyric could also support that :
"The line up seems endless underneath the salvation signs"
Like that he's told so many that he doesn't know what to do, to make things right.
Like I said.. I don't know, that's my guess. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is obviously about how were treating the earth and how bad places in the world could be anywhere so don't take advantage of it. It's how that band is disgusted by the earth like when dallas sings "i can't believe this is where I live" and also when he sings "the sun suffocates behind blackened skies could mean greenhouse gas"
