   I did some research,and 505 means a happy place were your relation is perfect and everything is great. now he's singing
   
   "I'm going back to 505, if it's a 7 hour flight....."
   
   So their relation is falling apart and he wants to go back to their 505.
   
   
   "I'd probaly still adore you with your hands around my neck oh i did last time i checked"
   
   He is obviosly bringing up memories from their 505 and has still feelings for this girl but since they're falling apart he would do anything to go back to their 505.

   I think this could be about this guy, completely in love with a girl, or so he thought. he loves her, just maybe no longer in a romantic way. almost back and forth on it, because it pains him to see her crying, but at the same time doesn't know if her touch gives him the feeling it used to. "I'd probably still adore you with your hands around my neck, or I did last time I checked..." he's conflicted, and maybe he's going back to an apartment room number #505, to tell his girlfriend he can no longer be with her.

   505 strikes me as a motel room where two long distance lovers meet after a while
   The singer leaves and wishes or decides he wants to go back to 505 to be with his lover for longer.
   He imagines meeting them, just as he left them “with your hands between your tighs”

   He goes back to 505, an area where he's met a lover. He imagines them waiting for him there, yet he finds them with another man. "When you look at me like that my darling what did you expect" shows she noticed him while with the other man. "I'd probably still adore you with your hands around my neck" shows he still loves her, however he wont be feeling that soon... "A Knife twists at the thought i should fall short of the mark" shows he feels like he wasnt enough for her, and he feels betrayed. "i crumble completely when you cry" she started crying after seeing him, he feels worse. "It seems once again you've had to greet me with goodbye" they can no longer be together after this, goodbye is the most apropiate term for this encounter. Especially as the first word.

    Maybe there is a refernce to area code 505 which is central or northern New Mexico which would fit with the "7 hour flight or 45 minute drive".
