Audioslave: #1 Zero Meaning
#1 Zero Lyrics
I will be the dog at your feet
And come along when you call
Be the little bird in your straw and sing you a song
I'll be there to take the fall
Though you tread upon me for no reason at all
[Chorus]
But...

I believe this song has a loving yet rejectionful tone to it, he says that he'll be the "dog at you feet" this is the definition of submissive. I think Chris is writing this as some what of a declaration of his love. I also get a feeling that she doesn't necessarily believe she loves him, he starts of with "listen know and let me speak" she could be someone who he cares deeply about but she either doesn't feel the same about him or she is stubborn and doesn't listen. He also gives off the thought that even if she doesn't love him she will stay in the "corner of his eye". In conclusion I feel as though this is a love song to people that never love back. He shares intimate detail of what he would do for her love and ends with another " I will keep you in the corner of my eye" to end so no matter what he will always love her and keep his eye on her to protect her from danger or any force

I think it's about having a deceiving person in your life you've just realised is betraying you, and planning to get them back. I had a manipulative friend that wanted to treat me like his "dog" and wanted me to worship him an put him "on a pedestal". He had massive ego, every word out of his mouth was a lie. I needed to watch him and keep him in the corner of my eye so I'd have control. He told me I was his best friend but really I was just his "no. 1 zero", get it, just a loser he could use.

No, stupid. You can't find the message of the song by looking at one line. And not every fucking song is about drug-addiction, you silly emo.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
