Babyshambles: Fuck Forever Meaning
Fuck Forever Lyrics
-
It's about the label contract The Libertines signed that included a cleverly convoluted clause making the copyrights to every song released while said contract lasted stay with the label even after all the ties between label and the original author are severed. The band was assured they're signing a very standard document but it wasn't - back then other labels were reserving similar right for 2 years and the contract they signed didn't specify any period. After Pete was kicked out from The Libertines in 2003 for substance abuse and threatened to start what later became Babyshambles, Carl used that clause to ban Pete and his new band from performing his own songs. When asked for how long, he said "forever". Later on it turned out it wasn't true and some kind of standard period applies - Pete considered this lie clever but not nice.

it means "forever" does not exist, so forget about it. Live for the moment

All i know is fuck forever is not about having sex forever. Its about telling forever to fuck off.

No-one totally understands what going on in Doherty's brain, not even Doherty himself. The few minutes of research I did were inconclusive. Some guy reckons Carl Barat once said forever in some context, and he's responding negatively to that. But that's just one word, it's tricky to base anything just on that. It's probably about Carl, a lot is. But it's more than that. But maybe it should remain unknown. I know that's only going to disappoint you, you came here for answers. But there seem to be none, so just relax and enjoy.
