The Way We Were Lyrics

Mmm. Mmm.
Memories, light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories of the way we were.
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind
smiles we give to one another
for the way we were.
Can it be that it was all so simple then
or has time...

The way we were song is a meaningful song that depicts true situation in life. Many couple separated because of different circumstances but this couole separation is not rare.political beliefs is one of the major reason why they did not work together and realises that they loved each other but they cant be the way they were.

    well...first it's Barbra, not Barbara.
This song is not just about how much better past times were, it is the title song of the movie "The Way We Were", a movie about a relationship that did not work. After years the former couple meet each other on the street per chance, it is obvious they still love each other in a way, but it is also clear they are unable to live together, because there are too many things between them (different political beliefs...). Now after years they mainly remember the good times they shared ("so it's the laughter we will remember"), a reason why many of us are tempted to retry a relationship with someone they loved and that ended not because the love was gone, but because of other circumstances. But they now it would not work. So they say goodbye and will go on remebering the way they were.

this song is very very similar to springsteen's glory days. it is a remembrance of days gone by and how in our younger years life was so much simpler like the 50s . man nothing went wrong in the 50s the streets in major cities were safe at all hours. baseball was played in the afternoon with a doubleheader every sunday and mondays off. you could lay on your back in the bronx and see billions of stars and fire flies. arguments were settled by fists or over a few beers, not with guns.but the way we were is not the way our lives are today
