Bread: If Meaning
Song Released: 1971
If Lyrics
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me...

#1 top rated interpretation:Human beings has a unique personality liken that the pictures represents the different emotions that we can seen and understand because of the output appearance that we can seen to the people and especially women.
chorus speaks about unconditional love, companionship, support and encouragement that serves as an inspiration that she's just there when you need her. you have somebody that you can hold on if everything is uncertain. just like if you are facing so many problems, trials and sufferings in life. eventhough there are so many changes in the world but still both of you will be together.
it's like you're sailing in a ship, lots of tremors waves and tribulent in the ocean, but if you have each other, your still keep on moving in the same direction. -
There’s no one home but you. You’re all that’s left me to.
What does this mean? Especially the second sentence.
Perhaps it means, she is all he can think about - thus no one is home in his own mind, except her. She is his only remaining thoughts.
Always wondered about this line. -
This was our wedding song in 1976. That was 45 years ago. I just lost my loving husband last week and this song means more to me now that it ever did......

I think it speaks of the love of the composer for this woman whom he can't even picture with his song (words).
How can he do something so egregious if someone already launched 1000 ships for love of a woman, in reference to Helen of Troy?
He wants to split himself in two in order to spend all his time besides her, tomorrow and today.
And when he's feeling low, she erases all negative feelings by showering him with her love.
And if the end of the world should come, he wants to be by her side and see everything crumble around them, the last two beings on earth, and not even then leave her, but instead, just fly away with her by his side... -
