Cartel: Honestly Meaning
Honestly Lyrics
When I tell you that you
You're part of the reason I'm so set on the rest of my life
Being a part of you
You tell me what you think about being open,
About being honest...
-
This song is about the couple who loves each other but the girl is not honest so the guy keep asking "tell me honestly if you're still loving me" but the girl keep lying the guy wants to know the truth

This is actually a sad song. It's typical boy meets girl but things go wrong somehow. The boyfriend thinks he knows the girl he loves but she's never honest with him, more importantly herself. And when he's waiting for her to call, he's basically waiting for another "excuse for losing sleep" in other words, why she was up late and had to sleep in.he's tired of it and asks her when she calls to just get to the point instead of making up stories. The guy doesn't know what to do but he says he'll "never walk away" because he wants his relationship with her to work. And then she always badgers him about why he wants to be all "honest" all of the sudden. He tells her that things won't be the same if they aren't and that's why he's begging her to be with him.("Things can never be the same...Now you know why I'm begging...") So whenever she calls and says she can't be with him or whatever, he just says, "I'll see you around". But at the end of the song he confronts her, about possibly cheating on him, and asks himself how he could have let this happen to them. He realizes that he's been wondering all this time "why things [weren't] the same" but it's because things really have changed between them when it comes to honesty. ("How can we resolve this now, we let it go and wondered how this could ever be the same"). He ends with telling her not to get all defensive about him accusing her, he's just being honest about his feelings.

This song is about a guy or girl pursuing someone because they are so similar. He/she is talking to the person that he/she is presumed to end up with, simply by the type of person he/she is. Like a intellectual with an intellectual or a musician with a musician. He/she doesn't mean to be rude but even though he hates to go with the norm he/she has to admit that he has fallen for him/her.

While on tour Will Pugh wrote this song about missing his girlfriend. About how he talks to her on the phone and wants to just see her. A very sweet song!
