Ballads to Lassie and Fluffy. You wouldn't think that pets are a large inspiration for songs, but like everything, it's surprising how many there are once you start accumulating a huge database like ours. And no, the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" doesn't count at all.

Now, we have to notice that not all pets are represented equally in the music world. We notice a distinct lack of tributes to pet reptiles, amphibians, and fish. And there's hardly even any songs about birds. Come on, if you wrote a song about your African Grey parrot, he's not only be smart enough to understand it, but he might even sing along.
