Gotye: Bronte Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Bronte Lyrics
And your feet are cold
And your body cannot stop rocking
I know
It hurts to let go
Since the day we found you
You have been our friend
And your voice still
Echoes in the hallway of this house
But now
It's the...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about his family friends dog who passed away. The family put the dog down in the backyard. Gotye wrote this song for the dog and to commend the family on what an excellent job they did for helping their children cope with the grief.
Hense "Now your bowl is empty, your feet are cold and your body is rocking". -
The production company that made the video said that the song is about Wally's (GOTYE) family fiend's dog having to be put down and how they gathered around the dog to be with it in it's final moments. I found it very touching, especially the line "And hold you till you're quiet" since I've held 4 pets in my arms as they took their last breaths (2 dogs and 2 cats). If you have never experienced this, it changes you! It is imprinted for ever and ever and no matter how "Humane" it supposedly was to put the animal down it still cuts deeply!

This song is very sad it always reminds me of my dead great uncle it was 2 years ago but it still feels like yesterday still it's about losing his dog but in gotye honor I will name my next dog bronte but I can't imagine losing my favorite dog tippy I will be so lonely
-
I watched a documentary/autobiography about the making of Making Mirrors, and Gotye said that it was about his family dog who went with him from Junior High to his 30's, until it died.

Originally, the song is about love for a family dog. But think again, this song can be about anything, missing our childhood, missing the ones we love. This song is for my best friend, i told her i will be there with her, but naive enough, this promise should not be told. i left because of my study. There are times when we don't have a choice, we are forced to be strong and move on with our life. But still, i will always remember you, and i will always be there. When you are leaving we will be there, as you do when i am leaving. i love you Holly.

I recently discovered this song and after listening to it a few times, I felt it was about someone's dog dying. I connected immediately as my family lost one of our dogs about a year ago. Although time has passed, I still feel a void in my life. Thank you to Gotye for writing such a touching song. It means more to me than I could ever express in words. You will forever be with me Foster.

(continuing from previous). I also think its about growing up and leaving friends behind.

I think it's about the girl is best friends with the creatures, but then she had to grow up and go to school and all, and then she didn't have time to see them anymore, and when she is moving out she goes to find them. Just writing this brought tears to my eyes.

The song is both happy and sad, but mostly sad, the way they made the music video for this song makes it seems like there is a movie to it but i cant find it
-
This is not the story you all think it is. This is the story of a girl who was kidnapped by a group of mountain goats at a young age. Over the years Stockholm syndrome set in and she began to think she was, in fact, a goat as well. She was rescued from this hell by a brave and devoted park ranger. The goats would not give up so easily, however, and stalked the young girl for years to come. This drove her to the point of a psychological break when she turned 18. She now lives in an asylum.

I love this song- I thought it was about the death of a loved one, but on hearing it's true meaning, as a dog owner (a little tricolour Cavalier King Charles called sammy, who was given to me when his owner could not keep him - a bewildered little two year old- I burst out crying! (hopeless!) That's what owning a dog does to you -melts your heart, with thanks to Goyte for his superb and consistent lyrics capturing all moods. I'm a huge fan

this was really strange.. my mum found this song and came to show me... my name is bronte and she took this as a song about someone growing up and moving away... we found this a couple of weeks before my 18th birthday
-
I absolutely love this song. I love Wally's music and his stylings are one of a kind. I know he's pretty famous because of his song Someone That I Used to Know but all his other songs deserve recognition to and this song is about his friends dog.
-
