Christina Aguilera: I'm OK Meaning

Never knew just where to turn for shelter from the storm

I like this song I'm OK. It's about Christina's childhood - her father being horribly abusive to her mother, who was in turn very loving towards Christina herself.
Bruises fade, father, but the pain remains the same
And I still remember how you kept me so afraid
Strength is my mother for all the love she gave
Every morning that I wake I look back to yesterday
And I’m OK
In these lines, she says that the bruises do fade with time, but the pain does remain the same (as is sadly the case with abuse victims), and that she still remembers how she was kept so afraid by her father. But she had a tower of strength in her mother, who gave her love and was very compassionate towards her when she was a child.
Kudos to Christina for writing this very beautiful and poignant song. I'm sure it took a lot of courage for her to do so. :)
