Citizen Cope: Son's Gonna Rise Meaning
Son's Gonna Rise Lyrics
Like a rocket
Headed to town now
You can't stop it
Got wheel in my hand
As I stand
On the floor
Of the board
Of this car
On the road
Got this woman in the back seat
Yeah she's my wifey
In the middle of the...
-
Keep it simple. He is driving his wife to the hospital. She is in labor. His son will be born, and he will rise and get his shot to live.
-
I think it speaks of heroin addiction. The son's gonna rise in a mile. In a mile you'll be feeling fine(since you've taken that shot of dope). In a mile you will see after me you'll be outta the dark, yea you'll get your shot.(In a few mins you'll get a chance after I've taken my shot of dope...you'll get your shot of dope which will bring you "outta the dark"---where addicts are in the time in between fixes---when "you get YOUR shot.
Rolling down the highway like a rocket---things are good when you're HIGH. Got a woman in the back seat she's my wifey, in the middle of delivery---she's fixing up his shot of dope, gonna "deliver" it OR you could say that the Heroin is the wife...Man she saved me(with a fix)...she picked me up when I was down on the road with the wind and the cold(that's how every addict feels about heroin when they feel the rush and it saves them from the horrible feelings before the fix.
Just sayin'---I love this guy's music and SOOO many of his songs have heroin themes or references...no harm meant in my interpretation -
A song about prophesying the coming birth of his ''Son's Gonna Rise'' moment. In coming with the glow of hope, to do good for all good people as a future global Citizen that will be able not to be in need for a cane to raise himself up with, but only his Father that will teach him well to see after him when he gets his chance to come out of the dark to see the light of life that his son will be born into.

The song start off with a character, lets assume it's clarence ( Citizen cope), driving down a high way. He has is "Woman" in the back, who is his "Wifey". And this woman is in "Delivery" Meaning she is going into labor. The song describes the way he feels as he is driving her to the hospital to have his baby be born. "The son gonna rise in a mile" His son will be born in a mile, when they reach the hospital. The baby "will be feeling fine" once they reach the hospital. The baby will "See, after me" Meaning he will raise him and he will see the way Clarence does. "Out of the dark" means out of the womb, and into the light of the day. And he will "get a shot" at life.
-
I am guessing at this song's meaning: It sounds to me that he's got "this woman" in the back seat of his car and then he says she's his wifey. I'm not certain that he is speaking about her with appropriate reverence. It is evident she is in pain because she is about to have a baby of some sort which belongs to HIM. He keeps telling her that she'll be somewhere in a mile. In a mile she'll be feeling fine. She will be able to see in a mile. In a mile THIS and in a mile THAT. He says, she'll get "a shot" in a mile which means in a mile she will be able to punch him or shoot him in the face. It sounds as if he has been a gigantic asssshOle. Son's gonna rise means he is equating her to Jesus because she has been suffering immensely and that after all of her incredible trauma, she will rise again. He is also foreshadowing what she is going to do to him because of the turmoil he has put her through. She will kill him which then means he will rise again according to the scriptures and be seateth at the right handeth of his father. He is thoroughly ecstatic about it all! His baby will rise up too which hopefully means be born and have a great life and it could be about that and I call myself Citizen Cope as I negate my previous identities. I like some of his songs like this one and Comin' Back and Let The Drummer Kick. Buy them right now or I will hire a public or private investigator to come after you & a spectacle out of you. 0-0 those are eyes
