Cute Is What We Aim For: The Curse of the Curves Meaning
Song Released: 2007
The Curse of the Curves Lyrics
And you've got the curse of curves
And with this gift I compose words
And the question that comes forward
Are you perspiring from the irony
Or sweating to these lyrics
And this just in
You're a dead fit
But...

#1 top rated interpretation:After listening to the lyrics and watching the video clip about a million times I have come to the conclusion that this song is about a beautiful yet extremely insecure girl who finds the perfect guy who really loves her because she fills all of his needs (I want someone provocative & talkative) but she's so suspicions that he's cheating on her with girls who are skinner than her, because she can't see how hot! She really is (but it's so hard when your shallower than I shower) every one can see how beautiful she is but her ( her bone structure screams touch her! touch her!) and the curse of curves I think represents the fact that the typical idea of beauty is stick thin. So her being curvy can't believe that she is way hotter than any other girl! In the end her insecurities destroy her relationship and leave her with even less confidence than she already had.
spellings terible sorry!
i think I've got the basis of it but its just my opinon

#2 top rated interpretation:I think it's about a couple and the guy is sick of the girl and her insecurities so is breaking up with her. Like she's spent ages accusing him of liking skinnier girls and even cheating on her with them and he still likes her but he can't take her jealousy and mistrust anymore and is being pretty cruel about it cause she's hurt him with her obsession with weight. Okay I'm gonna like go through the lyrics and give my thoughts on what they mean:
The guy having the gift of one liners means he can have any girl he wants and the one he's chosen is a girl who is constantly worrying about her figure. She's hot and curvy but she sees it as a curse so he's mocking her with it.
She's "perspiring from the irony" because its ironic how she's been thinking he didn't like her cause she has a curvy figure but its the fact that she's obsessed with becoming thinner that's breaking them up.
She's a dead fit cause she's just what he thought he wanted but now she's changed and the guys gone through so much pain with her he can't take it anymore and his wit is taking the chance to throw back her words at her.
Parts of the chorus are just the guy throwing back in her face what she's said to him in previous arguments like "shallow as a shower" and when he says "from what I've heard with skin you'll win" he's basically saying you keep going on about how thin you wanna be so have fun with that and you can do it without me.
"Her bone structure screams touch her" is him saying how sexy she is despite her insecurities.
The next bit is him saying that he can't keep quiet anymore and with her being on the "gossip team" she's already given him a bad name and he's telling her she's making something out of nothing, like accusing him wrongly of cheating and that her jealousy is linked to her greed cause now she's dieting and binging. He's being really nasty cause he's been quiet so long and is sick of getting hurt by her accusations.
The teeth that can bite underneath is him saying that she's done this to herself and now he's leaving her and its her own fault and she has to face her own reality and wake up to her problems cause he already has.
I'm probably wrong but that's how I see it. -
This guy is smooth with girls and is a big flirt, "the combination of my gift of one liners and my way, my way with words"
Because he can get any girl, he falls for the pretty, curvy girls but there all airheads. He wants somebody "provocative and talkative" but he can't help himself around pretty girls, "but it's so hard when your shallow as a shower" He is shallow and can't help his guy hormones to want the pretty girls that he can get.
"We all have teeth that can bite underneath to where the reality grows, that's where mine go"
He faces the reality of the type of guy he is and how he can only fall for stupid hot girls. Thats why he calls it the "Curse of Curves", being curvy and pretty curses the girls to be airheads. -
I think this song is about a guy who is a smooth talker, who is in a relationship, but is cheating on his first girlfriend with a "shallow as a shower" bimbo. He really deep down wants a meaningful relationship, but he's a jerk and the bimbo is extremely hot ("her bone structure screams touch her!") and she's good in the bedroom ("with skin you'll win"). just some thoughts :)

I came to this after watching the music video:
I think its about a married couple but the husband doesnt really like her too much, he thinks shes shallow (I want someone provocative and talkative but its so hard when you;re shallow as a shower) so they dont have any chemistry or love going on between them. So the husband cheats on her with a bunch of girls, he cant help it, it just happens (her bone structure screams "touch her, touch her"). He thinks his wife is too stupid to know about it, but shes known all along. Finally, the wife just cant take it anymore, all the insults and cheating on her, and kills him (as they show in the music video). -
So I think this song is about a guy who is very good with girls (I've got the gift of one liners), and he falls for a girl who is curvy and beautiful but she doesn't realize it because she is so insecure. He wants a meaningful relationship (I want someone provocative and talkative) and he thinks that he can have that with her but she is so overwhelmed by her insecurities that all she can think about is her lookes (But it's so hard when your shallow as a shower).
She starts to basically accuse him of cheating and is jealous of every pretty girl she sees (Your making something out of nothing and jealousy is the cousin, the cousin of greed). It doesn't work out because she becomes controlled by her insecurity and basically becomes the girlfriend from hell. He wants her to see that she is beautiful but that's something she'll never believe.

"I've got the gift of one liners
And you've got the curse of curves
And with this gift I compose words
And the question that comes forward
Are you perspiring from the irony
Or sweating to these lyrics"
It means he can pick up girls really easily (maybe because he's good looking?) and she is one of those really pretty (and shallow?) girls who goes for good looking guys like him....
"And this just in
You're a dead fit
But my wit won't allow it"
My guess is that "You're a dead fit" means everything is perfect about this girl, but the line "But my wit won't allow it" suggests that she isn't very intelligent (or maybe there's no chemistry between them besides attraction to each others looks)
"The inside lingo had me at hello
And we go where the money goes
The inside lingo had me at hello
And we go where the money goes"
That pretty much means this girl is probably all in it for the money and glamour that comes with dating somebody in a band (maybe??? I'm not sure)
"I want someone provocative and talkative
But it's so hard when you're shallow as a shower
And from what I've heard with skin you'll win"
He wants someone he can hold a conversation and have chemistry with, but he admits he is too shallow to go for that kind of girl.
I don't get the rest of the song... So maybe somebody else can take it from here.... -
Ok....
WELL, I have two versions: (the first one fits with the video clip)
The guy is renowned as a BIG TIME flirt and playboy, and there is a girl who has most probably loved him forever, and it breaks her heart when she sees him with other girls. Suddenly, one day, he starts paying attention to her, even though she tells her self that she's so fat (even though she most edfinatly is not) They start seeing each other regularly, because she is 'provocative and talkative', not like the other girls he sees.
She starts OBSESSING about her weight (When you're shallow as a shower)and about being 'beautiul'. She gets really jealous about whenever the guy sees other girls, because she wants him all to herself. In the end, the guy sees that even though she is beautiful and everything he wanted, she had some serious problems, and he has to leave her.
My Second Interpretation (What I first thought after listening to it the first couple of times)
A guy who isn't popular and kind of an outsider, falls for one of the prettiest girls (curvy and beautiful). The guy doesn't want to fall in love with her because she is very vain and self-centered and he wants someone 'provocative and talkative' and she is 'shallow as a shower'. However he can't stop thinking about her, and its because of her 'curse of curves' (the curse being how he is drawn in by them)
So yeah. -
I think it relates to the whole whore thing. You know how a guy can sleep with any girl and he is the man but a girl does that and she is a whore. I think the two can connect because he has the gift of one liners (ability to get any girl) a good thing for guys and she has the curse of curves (ability to get guys) bad thing for girls.
So the second verse I think is just a conversation he has with himself when he sees that she is flirting (unknowingly of course) with another one and he is saying to himself "she has the curse of curves so your making something out of nothing"... I don't know my thoughts are mixed with this song so I will be back. -
This song is about a girl who is pretty much perfect on the outside, she's pretty, she has the perfect body, but on the inside she's not that awesome, she's shallow and she's part of a group of girls that are all the same and they all spread rumors and crap, and the narrator is fighting w/ himself, he really doesn't like her and her personality, but she's just sooo beautiful and "her bone structure screams, touch her touch her" and he knows that if he can have her at the snap of his finger, because, well, he's got the gift of one liners.
-
The song is about a guy who is really smart but he's dating someone who isn't smart, just pretty. no matter how much he wants to break up with her, he just can't( he even tries to cheat on her, but it doesn't work.)
-
Well I guess that in the song the guy really likes the girl because she is the curse of curves but when they started to date he realize that the girl was so shallow and it was all about her and she is so superficial so he doesn't like her anymore so he chit on her because someway he wants her to realise that the curves aren't the most important thing.

Alright, I know I just posted one, but to add on to it,
i think that his "gift of one liners" means that he has a way with words so he can get any girl. but when she "had him at hello" and they started to date, he couldn't cope with her curse of curves so he cheated on her. and she knows it, but he keeps denying it "jealousy is the cousin, the cousin of greed" meaning she is jealous because she doesn't have him all for herself, and he's saying that she's being greedy trying to keep him for herself.
just offering more of my opinion!
