Moan Lyrics

Swoon this is the same old blood rush with a new touch
I am safe, quaint and eloquent
But my bottom lip along with the top one too
Is chapped and it's all thanks to you

We all wet our lips to prepare for the kiss
But it never came
And we...

This song is basically about a sexual encounter (obviously evident by the name of the song 'moan'). The entire cd, or most of it anyway, is about a guy who's chasing after a girl who's known to be a whore throughout their circle of friends.

In the beginning of the song, 'swoon, this is the same old blood rush with a new touch/i am safe, quait, and eloquent/but my bottom lip along with the top one too/is chapped and it's all thanks to you' is saying that every time he thinks of her, he still gets the same feelings of lightheadedness (fyi: swoon means 'faint'), etc. That are assosciated with love such as butterflies. He's saying that he's pretty much a reserved person in general life, but when it comes to her, he feels totally different.

Obviously the next part is talking about how this girl is playing games with him as well as many other guys. 'we all wet our lips to prepare for the kiss/but it never came/and we all wet our lips to prepare for the kiss/it was but a game' the second part is saying that when she finally did kiss them, or maybe more, it was just a little run-around. In essensce, a game.

The chorus 'you have a moan all of your own/and I can feel it down to the bone' is talking about the actual encounter the author has with this girl and how he feels very strongly about 'satisfying her'.

'you trained these lips when they were champs/and now they're itchin' for a comeback/so come back' says that the girl he's running after used her sex appeal to get what she wanted and left impressions on many other guys, including the author, who is left wanting more and begging the girl to come back to him.

'it's a shame that your claim to fame/hangs on someone else's name' is kind of a sarcastic remark hinting to the girl that he'd like to have sex with her and become another one of her 'claims to fame'.

'such a task and this is such a blast/and such a task/and such a task and this is such a blast/and all that jazz' is partly what he's telling the girl and what he's telling himself. 'such a task' is saying that he's trying to be cool about having sex with her. 'such a blast' is saying that he's having more fun out of it than she is, but he wants to keep it to himself, thus remarking to her that it's 'such a task'.

'you have a dangerous face and illegal taste/and that strap is fallen on that shoulder blade/be patient/behave' says firstly that he's a remarkably beautiful girl who has a taste for older men (I could be wrong). The next part is her trying to intice men by subtly exposing her skin. 'be patient/behave' is the author trying to calm himself down and keep himself from attacking the girl with sexual desire.

I could be wrong in this interpretation, but I like the way it sounds.. Lol

I was just starting high school when this song came out & I always liked it but now that I'm 31 & listening to the lyrics I cant help but think he's borderline Grooming the girl. Mainly because he says "You have a dangerous face and illegal taste" and "Be patient
Behave" as if he's saying she's cute but a minor & also waiting until she's of legal age to actually try anything. Thats just my 2cents though..
