Elton John: Blue Eyes Meaning
Song Released: 1982
Blue Eyes Lyrics
Baby's got blue eyes
Like a deep blue sea
On a blue blue day
Blue eyes
Baby's got blue eyes
When the morning comes
I'll be far away
And I say
Blue eyes holding back the tears
Holding back the pain
Baby's got blue eyes
And...

It just makes me reminisce of the love of my life that wasn't meant to be. She was in love with another man but I am sure no one ever loved her more than I did. She broke my heart.
-
Adoration on a level purely from a loving heart. To see laughter in eyes. Simply trust and understanding.
-

Elton himself said it was about Elizabeth Taylor.

It's about someone passing away and watching down on their spouse from heaven. Someone that really loves their spouse will know what I mean. I've known my wife for 46 years and I can not imagine my life without her. She is sick and I pray for her every day. I pray that GOD will ease her pain and suffering. She is a five time cancer survivor and having lots of complications from all the radiation she's had along with heart problems and diabetes. Everyone please pray for her

My Thinking brings me to his baby. He called Norma Jean as Marilyn Monroe his baby. He will be home when he is with his baby? Just thoughts.

A very tasteful Elton song perhaps he is expressing the deep sadness of Lady Diana’s relationship with Prince Charles. Elton and Lady Diana were after all very good friends.
-
I may be completely wrong. But I believe this incredibly simple beautiful song is about a devoted romantic relationship in which the male partner has a job which takes him far away from his sweetheart. And he longs to be with her and gaze into her blue eyes which speak the language of love to him.
-
I think the person has blue eyes meaning sad because the person that is going to be far away when morning comes means he passed away an the blue sky will be looking over him meaning he is in heaven already.

Was written for my cousins {Elton was friends with their father} - young boy adopted at 6wks (as was I) whose parents, after a number of years, had a naturally conceived child. Boy had very strict father who showed his love for the new baby girl in way he'd never shown it to boy. Boy loved mother very much and did everything for baby to show mother he was worthy of her love. Unfortunately life eventually became too much for boy and he passed away a few years ago. Was my favourite cousin, we wasted many hours fishing and talking. Still miss him very much.

It's about Elizabeth Taylor. She and Elton were close friends.

I think this song is about a very young child who feels jealous about his newborn sibling whose blue eyes resemble their mom's. He considers the possibility of running away from home and fantasizes about how much he would be missed, but then reconsiders after realizing (in a dreamy way) how much he would miss the love and care of mom. Wether I am right or wrong, this song is pure music genius.

I think the lyrics are meant to be the inner struggle of a young child who feels jealous about a new brother/sibling who has been born recently. He feels Moms attention is now deposited on the new baby and feels jealous and then angry. In his conversation with himself he decides to run away from home thinking that way she will miss him and experience the same sadness he is experiencing. But then he starts considering how much he loves mom. And starts feeling stronger affection for that baby who shares his mother's eyes. At the end he decides not to leave and embraces his new sibling recognizing in him/her the same lovable treats of his greatest love (mom).
